Growing some flowering plants at home not only has high ornamental value, but can also cultivate your character. Flower-growing hobbyists all want their flowering plants to have lush branches and leaves and bloom continuously, so besides taking good care of the plants, as long as you learn these few little flower-growing tips, you can be sure the plants will bloom continuously.

Pinching off the top

When the plant has grown to about 20cm, you can pinch off the top appropriately. This makes the plant's shape more compact, prevents leggy growth, and also lets the plant grow more side branches and flower buds, so the flowers the plant produces are more lush and vivid.

Reduce watering appropriately

Everyone knows that giving plants plenty of water can promote their growth. But sometimes you can let the plants dry out a little, which lets them grow better and produce more flowers. This is the plant's growth instinct, to better nurture the next generation before withering. But you cannot let it dry out too severely, as that is also bad for plant growth.

Pinch off the first blooms

For flowering plants like Chinese roses (Rosa chinensis), when the first flower blooms, you can pinch off all the flower buds. This effectively directs better nutrients to the plant, so more flower buds will sprout, and there will surely be more buds than the first bloom. So you must not be reluctant to pinch them off.

Fertilize reasonably

Many flower-growing friends know that reasonable fertilization can promote blooming, so when we repot the plants, we can add some base fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, then during the growth period apply some organic fertilizer or liquid fertilizer, applying once every 20 days or so, and before the flowering period properly supplement some monopotassium phosphate.

Prune spent flowers

For some flowering plants, once the flowers fade and fall, you must cut them off immediately, otherwise the spent flowers will also consume extra nutrients. This prevents the other flowers from absorbing nutrients better and also hinders the sprouting of new buds. While removing the spent flowers, you can supplement the plant with some monopotassium phosphate, which lets the plant grow flower buds faster and thus bloom a second time.
