Everyone is surely very familiar with banana peels. We usually just throw them away after eating a banana, but in fact banana peels are rich in nutrients that are very suitable for plant growth. Banana peels also break down easily, and once they rot they are readily absorbed by the soil, so leftover banana peels can be used to grow plants with excellent results. So how do you use banana peels to grow plants?

Compost banana peels into nutrient-rich soil

1. Prepare a pot, banana peels and a knife for later use. Cut the banana peels into small pieces, then first put some potting soil in the bottom of the pot, pour the chopped banana peels onto the soil in the pot, then add another layer of soil on top of the banana peels, pressing it down over the chopped peels, then add another layer of chopped banana peels. When the pot is almost full, add a final layer of soil and use the soil to seal it.

2. Once everything is placed in the pot, seal the mouth of the pot with a layer of plastic wrap, then place the sealed banana peel soil in the sun to let the banana peels ferment in the pot.

3. Once the banana peels have finished fermenting, mix the soil and banana peels together and it becomes nutrient-rich soil full of nutrients. This soil can be used directly to grow plants, or used as a fertilizer for top dressing.

Homemade banana peel fertilizer for plants

1. Prepare a bottle, chop the banana peels, pour the chopped peels into the bottle, then add an appropriate amount of clean water. You can also add a little orange peel to prevent the gas produced during fermentation from smelling bad.

2. Seal the bottle, but remember not to screw the cap on too tightly, to prevent the gas produced during fermentation from expanding with no way to escape properly. Place it in a spot with sunlight to ferment. Once fermented, dilute it with clean water and it can be used directly to water plants.
