How to prevent and control rose flower pests? Learn these few tricks to handle it with ease

Bright colors, pretty flowers, elegant plant shape - when it comes to rose flowers, we can always think of all kinds of beautiful adjectives, and the plant itself is indeed one of the most popular ornamental flowers among summer flowers. In previous articles, we have already discussed issues such as fertilizing, getting rose flowers through the summer, and watering. So today, let us take one more step on the road of rose flower care and talk about the business of rose flower pests!
Rose flowers are beautiful, but it must be said that their fragile roots also make this flower extremely vulnerable to pest attacks. Generally speaking, the pests that rose flowers are most likely to suffer from are mainly scarab beetles, aphids, scale insects, and red spider mites. Each of these pests will have a negative impact on rose flowers, and if we want to prevent and control them, we must understand the main signs of these pest problems.
Many people's impression of the scarab beetle may still remain at the image of a childhood children's program host, but in the plant world, it is an absolute pest. Scarab beetles usually feed on new leaves, tender shoots, and flower buds. Fortunately, its "look" is too distinctive, and its size is also the largest among these pests, so if you see it, you can just catch and kill it in time. If you want long-term prevention, you can place a coil of mosquito coils around the flower pot or use a 25% buprofezin wettable powder diluted 2000 times for spraying.
Among rose flower pests, the most likely to appear and the most destructive are aphids. Aphids. They are one of the most destructive pests in the world, green or gray. They are usually distributed on the tender shoots and flower buds of rose flowers. They do damage by sucking plant sap. They not only hinder the normal growth of rose flowers, but also cause deformities in the flowers, leaves, and buds of rose flowers. If you find that the leaves of your rose flowers are curling, then aphids may be the culprit. At this time, just turn the leaves over and check whether there are aphids on the back. The treatment method is also very simple. If there are few aphids, just improve ventilation or catch them manually. If there are many, you can spray insecticide.
In the process of growing rose flowers, especially in summer, it is very likely that rose flowers will suffer from scale insect damage due to insufficient ventilation, insufficient light, and other conditions. Scale insects are one of the most common pests on flowers. For affected plants, in mild cases the branches and leaves turn yellow and wither, and it easily induces sooty mold, affecting growth and ornamental value; in severe cases, the entire plant can decline and die. As for the treatment method, because scale insects have a layer of horny hard shell on the surface, general pesticides are not lethal enough to them. If there are not many, we can remove them manually and wipe the diseased leaves with alcohol. If the situation is more serious, appropriate pruning is needed, and insecticide should be applied to the potting soil.
The last type of pest is the red spider mite. It mostly occurs from May to October when the weather is dry and the temperature is relatively high. If red spider mites are found, in the early stage you can combine pruning by picking off the leaves with gray-white spots and burning them, rinse the plant leaves, and also use chemical control: acaricides such as abamectin and pyridaben are both suitable. It is recommended to alternate the two chemicals, spraying once every 7 days, for 3 consecutive sprays, and a relatively good effect can be achieved.
