Perhaps because the places where Buddhists reside always feel extremely serene, and also because the people of the Buddhist faith have minds free of distracting thoughts, the succulents they cultivate have also taken on a hint of an otherworldly, ethereal flavor~
During the first two days of the trip to Dali, autumn rain fell continuously, and the mist and clouds seemed like a woman enamored with the Cangshan mountains, winding around the ridges of Cangshan in ever-changing postures. On the third day, starting from the horizon, the clouds finally revealed a few gaps, revealing a seemingly glowing bright blue sky. The gaps gradually widened, and against the backdrop of the blue sky, the clouds finally displayed their myriad magnificent forms, transforming moment by moment.
Beside the national highway, the temple at Guanyintang opens its doors wide to the public, with the bustle of horses and carriages before its gate. To reach Jizhao Nunnery, however, one must first pass through a winding mountain road about 2 km long, with dense forests on both sides, which makes visitors first calm their minds, weary their bodies, and cease their excited chatter. With Gantong Temple shielding it in front, it is truly like a fairy standing aloof from the world, dwelling deep in the mountains, drinking the wind and dew, carefree and utterly removed from the mundane.
After passing through these dense forests and a stretch of stepped mountain path, the heart has already become very quiet.
The entrance to Jizhao Nunnery is very distinctive. In several places within the nunnery, the paths pass through trees, and walking among them gives a strong sense of depth and is very delightful!
Two rows of orchids rather than brightly colored flowers give people not a feeling of intensity, but one of freshness!
After entering the main gate, one must first pass through a relatively narrow space, and only after turning a corner does one enter the courtyard, giving a sudden sense of openness and brightness!
The succulents first appeared in a corner, like a prelude -- a very stunning prelude!
In the central courtyard, Echeveria 'Runyonii' succulents were arranged into a Buddhist symbol
Each pot is very large!
The flower beds on both sides are also filled with enormous Echeveria 'Runyonii'. The beautiful rosette shape of Echeveria 'Runyonii' pairs perfectly with the atmosphere of a Buddhist courtyard!
Around the courtyard, some other varieties of succulents are also placed
Placed on the wooden table
Enter the quiet tea room. This is a tea room with a design sensibility, slightly stylish, yet allowing one to settle into calmness!
Looking at the back hill through the tea room window, an astonishing sight!
Jizhao Nunnery is very small, and one can walk through it quickly, but it feels endlessly evocative, and it feels different from all the temples visited before. Jizhao Nunnery is very distinctive, designed as a whole, with consideration given to many details, incorporating a modern feel; some places are simple, some places have warmth -- no longer cold and desolate.
The small courtyard seems to offer something photographable everywhere, creating the illusion that one has walked into a courtyard of great depth. The succulents play a unique role within it. Yunnan's climate is very suitable for growing succulents; every succulent recklessly squanders its vitality, and in the day-after-day chanting of Buddhist songs, it seems to have received the Buddha's blessing, fully displaying its beauty.
Don't tell me there are no precious succulents here; before the Buddha, all beings are equal. Beauty is felt with the soul, not measured with money.
On the way down the mountain, the beautiful Erhai Lake can be seen from time to time!
I wonder if everyone has been moved by such an atmosphere?
