Last January, while the flowers were dormant, I took the opportunity to improve the garden's basic infrastructure.

So I picked up a few three-year-old climbing rose seedlings and let them go dormant as well. First, I'll build a climbing rose trellis on the terrace, hoping that by next spring the climbing roses will cover the trellis.

On a whim, I decided to make a "China Pavilion edition" trellis! At the same time, I planned to make a clematis trellis after the New Year.

To make the climbing rose trellis, I bought stainless steel square tubing and started calculating dimensions and cutting materials.

I had the cut materials welded together at an aluminum alloy shop, while the trellis posts were made from 90mm diameter PVC pipes and fittings.

Then I applied white silicone sealant to cover up that harsh metallic color, and also so the plants wouldn't get scorched in summer.

Making final preparations to assemble the trellis.

The trellis is finally installed in place.

The China Pavilion should logically be red, but considering that I want red flowers to bloom here in the future, it would create a color clash, and I also couldn't find red silicone sealant (silicone sealant is mainly for weather resistance and protecting plants from scorching in summer).

The trellis has been done for over ten days now, and the New Year is approaching, so I hung up lanterns - maybe the Chinese color atmosphere will be a bit stronger.

Following the same method, the clematis trellis was completed in February. (The clematis trellis is made from thin hollow stainless steel tubing bent into shape.)

Five months later, the little clematis climbed onto the trellis.

Note: Attention everyone, my palms got severe blisters from bending this trellis. I won't dare do it again next time, haha. Those with delicate skin shouldn't attempt this easily.

Climbing Rainbow and clematis Carnaval showed off their elegance on the trellis.

The climbing roses are fading, and clematis Carnaval continues to bloom.

Even this can be DIY'd - that's not just any expert, that's basically the Arc de Triomphe and the China Pavilion!
