To save money, I built a 20 sq m rooftop vegetable garden on my terrace myself, spending only 5,000 yuan

Behind my house is my terrace vegetable plot, about 20-something sq m. This plot has only 20 cm of soil, and my husband and I carried that soil up on our backs, so much hard work... I'll skip 1,000 words here, haha. The base fertilizer was 12 bags of sheep manure, and the top dressing was soybean cake. Every day I work in this little vegetable plot, fertilizing, watering, and catching bugs. I used to hate bugs the most, but ever since we got chicks, every time I loosen the soil I hope to find bugs....
There's no money left, the house is already heavily in debt... To save money, I do most of the work in the yard myself
Improving the soil is a big project... If I say too much, it's all tears... The soil was brought from far away, bagged one by one and hauled upstairs, and then I bought 12 bags of sheep manure and some okara...
Lettuce is a good comrade, it doesn't attract bugs, and it's an anti-cancer vegetable
The potatoes are growing very fast
Harvesting a basket of vegetables

The scallions grow as thin as chives, but they're very tasty
The cucumbers are starting to set fruit
Next year I'll plant some taller shrubs, red maples and the like along the south wall to reduce the lawn area, and enclose a bed in the middle to grow some low leafy greens... What flowers and plants are suitable for growing in the north? Please recommend lots!
