Bury a few soybeans under the clivia pot, and the leaves grow vigorously, with big, beautiful blooms.

As one of the flowering ornamental plants commonly kept at home, clivia (Clivia miniata) is quite popular. When not in bloom it stays evergreen all year round, and when it flowers the blossoms are bright and beautiful. Placing clivia in the living room or bedroom beautifies the home, and it also has a certain air-purifying effect. Although clivia is common, it is not easy to grow. Some flower lovers end up with yellowing leaves, no flowers, or blooms stuck in the leaf axils, while others manage to get their clivia to bloom quickly and last a long time.
When it comes to growing clivia, in the end it still comes down to a few little tricks. For example, burying a few soybeans under the clivia pot!

The photo above is a flower lover's clivia. It produced 26 flowers on its very first bloom. Growing it so well really makes people envious. Burying a few soybeans in the clivia pot is enough to grow it this well, because soybeans are rich in nitrogen and other trace elements, making them very suitable for growing plants. This is especially true for flowering plants such as clivia, Christmas cactus, moth orchid, geranium, wax begonia and gardenia, which tend to develop yellow leaves when they lack nitrogen.
Using soybeans to grow plants also has its own rules. The steps are as follows:
Step one:
Soak the prepared soybeans in tap water for a whole midday, so that the boiling time that follows can be shorter.
Step two:
Pour the soaked soybeans into a pot and boil for twenty minutes, then let them sit covered for half an hour. Afterwards, crush the cooked soybeans into powder and dry them in the sun for a full day.
Step three: Mix the soybean powder into the clivia's potting soil. You can also dig a hole in the clivia pot and sprinkle the soybean powder in. Remember, doing this once or twice a month is enough. Apply light fertilizer frequently.

The yellow clivia is also stunningly beautiful when it blooms, though not many flower lovers grow it, so it is quite rare. Now back to how to use the soybeans. After each feeding, remember to water a little. Clivia likes a moist environment, though of course you should not water too much. Watering once every three days is recommended. It is best to use sun-exposed tap water, or else rainwater or pond water.

Because clivia has fleshy roots, its root system is very well developed, so every six months you should take the roots out and check them, to avoid a lack of oxygen and stunted growth caused by insufficient root space. If you repot it, that is also a good time to change the soil. Just mix the prepared soybean powder with soil at a ratio of 1 to 10.

Clivia grown with soybeans can, in a short time, develop leaves that are both wide and thick, and many flower lovers have found this little trick consistently effective. Besides the trick of burying soybeans, to make clivia leaves even glossier and fuller, flower lovers can wipe the clivia with beer.
Beer contains maltose, and many trace elements that suit clivia's growth. Using beer on clivia also has its own trick: be sure to dilute it first (dilution ratio 1:50) before using it!
That is all for these little clivia care tips. If flower lovers have better tricks, you are welcome to comment below!
