Anthurium is a very free-flowering potted plant, with one flower for every leaf, so if you care for it well, you will never lack flowers to enjoy all year round. So how should we usually care for anthurium, and how long can a single flower last? How can we make the anthurium flowering period longer?

In fact, how long a single anthurium flower lasts has a lot to do with care. Some growers' single anthurium flowers last only one month to one and a half months, while others' single anthurium flowers can last four to five months. Besides care, how long a single anthurium flower stays in full bloom also depends on the variety. Different varieties have different bloom durations.

So how do we make a single anthurium flower last longer? We can start with the following points.

Anthurium likes a warm and humid environment and needs relatively high air humidity, so when caring for anthurium we must pay attention to this. We can appropriately mist the anthurium leaves to increase air humidity.

A flower cannot bloom well without light. When anthurium flowers are in full bloom, the light should not be too strong, but it should not be too weak either. If it is too strong, the flower fades quickly, the spadix soon turns green, and the petals curl back. If the light is too weak, the flower blooms listlessly, the color is not vivid, and it also tends to fade early. So when the flower is blooming, place it in a bright spot, preferably in diffused light, or where it can get a little direct sunlight in the morning and afternoon when the light is weaker - that would be best.

When the red flower is in full bloom, do not water it all the time, but do not let it dry out either; water when the potting soil is dry. If the weather is hot, besides watering, also spray water mist around the anthurium to increase environmental humidity. When misting, you can also spray a little on the anthurium leaves, but do not spray it on the anthurium flowers. Frequent misting helps extend the anthurium's flowering period; air that is too dry is also one of the reasons anthurium flowers fade early.

When anthurium flowers are in full bloom, because the flowering period is long, sometimes before one flower has finished blooming, another one emerges. To make the flowers last longer and have better color, supplement nutrients in time during the flowering period. It is best to mainly apply diluted liquid fertilizer; the liquid fertilizer can be a purchased flowering plant nutrient solution or organic fertilizer you have fermented yourself. Some growers also fry a little peanut and sesame, crush them, ferment them, and shallowly bury them in the anthurium potting soil, which is also excellent. In short, applying a little thin fertilizer during the flowering period helps anthurium bloom. But note that no matter what fertilizer you apply, it must be thin!

With good light, watering and fertilizing, anthurium flowers can last a long time, over two months. Is a flowering period of fifty or sixty days long? The flowers will also keep blooming one after another, blooming every day without stop. A well-cared-for anthurium is truly worth admiring.
