Rotten leaves on lucky bamboo are caused by improper care: compacted soil, improper watering and excessive light. So to solve the root problem, you need to find the cause and master the correct care methods. Let's take a look below at the causes of rotten leaves on lucky bamboo and the seasonal methods!

What to do about rotten leaves on lucky bamboo?

(1). Poor permeability:

Poor air permeability of the potting soil, plus not repotting the soil for a long time, easily compacts the soil, so that water does not easily evaporate and drain away, leading to waterlogging, which makes the roots rot and hampers breathing, and the leaves turn yellow and rot. A poorly ventilated environment also easily causes leaves to turn yellow; dry air easily breeds disease, which is bad for the plant's growth.

Solution: Mix a loose, airy potting soil, keep the plant in a well-ventilated spot, promptly cut off rotten and yellow leaves, and loosen the soil appropriately to help the roots breathe.

(2). Excessive light:

Lucky bamboo tolerates partial shade; when the light is too strong, the leaves get scorched and develop yellow spots, and the leaves wither and droop. If not dealt with in time, the leaves will rot as soon as you water.

Solution: Cut off yellow leaves promptly as soon as they appear, take shade measures in summer, let the plant receive appropriate light in the morning and evening, or keep it in a spot with bright light and good ventilation.

(3). Insufficient water:

When lucky bamboo lacks water, the roots cannot absorb water, which causes the leaves to turn yellow and the tips to dry out.

Solution: Water to keep the potting soil moist, make sure to water thoroughly, and only stop watering when you see water draining from the bottom of the pot; frequently spray the leaves to maintain air humidity.
