Clivia might not survive summer. How should Clivia be cared for in summer? Let's take a look!

How to care for Clivia in summer?

(1). Temperature: The suitable temperature for Clivia growth is 18°C~28°C. Once the temperature exceeds 30°C, Clivia will enter a semi-dormant state, and cooling measures need to be taken promptly, frequently spraying water around it.

(2). Light: Prevent direct sunlight and avoid exposure to strong sun, otherwise it can easily scorch the leaves and shorten the flowering period of Clivia. Full-day shading is needed; receiving light in the early morning is enough to meet the plant's photosynthesis needs. It is best to place it in a semi-shaded, semi-sunny, well-ventilated spot where it can see scattered light in the morning and evening.

(3). Soil: Keep the soil fertile with good aeration; do not use clay soil. Loosen the soil appropriately to avoid soil compaction that causes waterlogging. The soil is best a weakly acidic humus soil; Clivia is an acid-loving flowering plant.

(4). Fertilizing: Summer is the dormant period for Clivia, so do not fertilize to prevent leggy growth. If too much fertilizer is applied, promptly remove it from the pot and change the soil, otherwise it can easily cause fertilizer burn and damage the root system. When changing the soil, you can pour out the top layer of soil, mix in an appropriate amount of sand, blend it, and put it back into the pot. This reduces fertilizer strength and also helps lower the temperature.

(5). Water: Once a week, use a fine gauze cloth dipped in clean water, wring it dry, and gently wipe the leaves once to keep the leaf surface clean. Do not water until the soil is dry; when you do water, water thoroughly. Water in the morning and evening, and keep the potting soil moist without waterlogging. Do not spray water on the leaves, to prevent water from accumulating in the leaf center and causing heart rot.
