Jianye adds more weight to their relegation battle: Ivo and Gomes return, Cala leaves

According to news from Henan Jianye Football Club on the 15th, 31-year-old former Jianye player Ivo has returned to Henan Jianye. During Henan Jianye's winter training in South Korea in 2015, Jia Xiuquan brought the 28-year-old Ivo to Henan Jianye after only watching him play half a match, and his outstanding performances in two consecutive seasons in 2015 and 2016 won over the "picky" Jianye fans.

During his time at Jianye, he made 58 appearances, started 57 matches and scored 11 goals, and was deeply loved by Henan fans. It was precisely his outstanding performances over two seasons that caught the eye of Beijing Renhe, then still in China League One, and Ivo also transferred back to Renhe out of consideration for his children and family. Because Ivo's contract had not yet expired when Renhe officially announced his transfer back, it caused quite a stir in football circles at the time.

Now that Ivo has returned to Jianye once again, many Jianye fans are overjoyed. From the announcement, Ivo's return is not only due to Ivo's own wishes, but also due to the emotional bond with Jianye fans. Most importantly, Ivo fits the tactical system framework of coach Zhang Wailong. Ivo's return is believed to add considerable weight to Jianye's relegation battle.

In addition, Gomes, who was loaned out by Jianye, is also expected to return. The former hand-grenade thrower is expected to return to the Jianye pitch to spearhead Jianye's attack. Gomes is tall and imposing, a veritable iron gate in defense. During Jia Xiuquan's time at Jianye, Gomes anchored the back line while Ivo orchestrated in midfield. Now that both key players have returned, plus the young speedster Moto Bassogog, Jianye's tactical system is expected to be more complete.

But for every player who comes in, another goes out. Henan Jianye foreign player Juan Cala announced his departure from the team on his personal social media platform INS, writing: We will eventually end this journey and welcome a new beginning, with hope and desire coexisting, and many important things waiting for us. According to foreign media reports, Cala is expected to join La Liga side Levante.
