Moss rose, although it is also called sun flower, its leaves are relatively slender. The sun flower we usually grow is called large-flowered purslane. Although the leaves are different, the blooms are all very beautiful. Moss rose is very simple to grow, especially tough. You don't need to sow seeds or buy seedlings - just pinch off a few branches and you can grow many pots.

The super simple way to grow moss rose:

If a friend or relative's home, or a park in the suburbs, has this kind of flower, just take a few branches back. You can take one branch of each color. Length doesn't matter, about ten cm or so.

Moss rose grows fast. The more you prune it, the more it sprouts and the more branches it grows, so don't worry that pinching off branches will do any harm.

After bringing them back, prepare small flower pots, or transparent plastic drinking cups, paper cups, or lunch boxes - all will do. Fill with ordinary garden soil, add a small amount of leaf mold, and then add one third sand.

Use a small stick or chopstick to poke a few small holes in the potting soil, then insert the moss rose branches into them, water thoroughly, and place in a cool, ventilated spot without strong light.

After a week, the leaves stand up, and they root especially easily. At this point you can water and give sun normally, and care for them as usual.

It grows especially vigorously and multiplies very fast. It can be grown on an indoor balcony or in the open air. As long as there is plenty of sunlight, plus a little flower fertilizer or organic fertilizer, and you water when the soil is dry.

As long as there is sunlight and good ventilation, it will bloom countless flowers, blooming every day, and look extremely beautiful!

Usually pinch off the growing tips and top it more often, so that more side branches and shoots grow, and the plant shape becomes especially beautiful and attractive.

If you want to keep moss rose into the second year, in winter place it in a wind-sheltered, warm, sunny spot. As long as the temperature does not drop below five degrees, with normal care it can be kept into the second year and continue to bloom.
