Keep a few fragrant plants at home, with a light, subtle scent rather than a heavy one, and you can enjoy their fragrance all year round. Some have fragrant leaves, while others have fresh scent in their flowers, stems and leaves. They not only soothe and relax your mood, but also beautify your home environment.

1. Fragrant Wood (Qingxiangmu)

The leaves of Fragrant Wood carry a natural fragrance, making it very suitable as a potted plant. Fragrant Wood needs plenty of light, but avoid direct sunlight. It has fairly good drought tolerance, so there is no need to water it frequently in normal care; avoid waterlogged soil that causes root rot. When caring for it, you also need to maintain the air humidity of its growing environment - just mist the leaves or spray water on the ground.

2. Gardenia

Gardenia has a captivating fragrance. It prefers slightly acidic soil, and in normal care it needs a warm, humid environment with plenty of light. In summer it needs appropriate shading and good ventilation, and avoid air that is too dry. It likes light but also tolerates shade; under shaded conditions its leaves become a deeper green, but it flowers rather poorly.

3. Osmanthus

Osmanthus in autumn is the most fragrant of all, refreshing to the heart. Osmanthus is not fussy about soil - most soils will do, though deep, loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil with good drainage is best. In winter, Osmanthus needs to be moved indoors for care, which ensures it overwinters safely.

4. Jasmine

Jasmine's flowers are pure white and sweet, and in its blooming season the whole room is filled with its elegant floral fragrance. During Jasmine's growing period, keep the potting soil slightly moist, not too wet. For Jasmine grown indoors, besides keeping the environment warm and providing appropriate light, you also need to maintain a certain level of air humidity.

5. Milan (Aglaia)

Milan (Aglaia) can produce many small yellow flowers, and the hot summer is exactly the season when its fragrance is most captivating. Milan needs plenty of light, which lets it produce more flowers with a richer fragrance. During Milan's flowering period, watering should be appropriately reduced, which makes the fragrance last longer and stay richer.
