Dragon bone (Euphorbia antiquorum) is a plant in the Euphorbiaceae family, and its tree form is very spectacular, it easily grows to several meters tall, and it can also absorb formaldehyde from the air, resist radiation and so on, however, the sap of dragon bone is toxic, so when we care for it, we must be careful. Dragon bone is also very easy to propagate, a single branch can be rooted as a cutting. How do you take the cutting, and what issues should you pay attention to? Let's talk about it briefly today

Select a section of dragon bone branch, about ten-odd cm is enough, if it is too short, once the wound retracts, there is nothing you can do. You can use a whole branch section, or a cut-off branch, both are fine,

When cutting it off, dragon bone will have white sap flow out, absolutely do not touch it with your hands, it is toxic. You can dip it in plant ash to disinfect it, or wash it with carbendazim solution, then put it in a cool, ventilated place to let the cut wound dry,

If it is cut at a node, it can be planted as a cutting without drying,

Wait until the wound has retracted, then you can take the cutting. When planting the cutting, use moist soil in the pot, the soil must be loose and breathable. You can mix leaf mold and large-particle river sand at a 1:1 ratio, or use coal cinder, garden soil and leaf mold to make the mix, as long as it is loose and breathable it is fine

Keep it in a shaded, ventilated place and care for it for a week, it will root in about ten-odd days. Wait until the potting soil is completely dry before watering, then gradually let it receive light, and that is all. Planted this way, the cuttings will survive one hundred percent. After the dragon bone has rooted, it should often get light, be placed in a ventilated spot, and be watered thoroughly only after the soil has dried out. Too much watering easily causes waterlogging and root rot. Fertilize once or twice a month, and it will grow very fast

This is the three-ribbed cactus I propagated as a cutting, the method is about the same as propagating dragon bone, and the shape is somewhat similar too, so do not mistake one for the other
