Because of the summit in Qingdao, my husband has been going to work early and coming back late every day. He originally said he would set up shade and rain protection for me after some time, but who knew plans could not keep up with changes. These past few days the temperature suddenly rose to over 30°C, accompanied by heavy rain and thunder and lightning. Thinking of my succulents on the flat roof, my mood was like riding a rollercoaster. I kept worrying they would turn into boiled meat, but fortunately seeing the tree branches swaying in the wind outside calmed me down a little. Today as soon as I got off work I could not wait to climb up and check on my succulents. Unexpectedly, not only were they very lively, but their growth was astonishing, and my heart finally settled halfway. The weather forecast says there will be more thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow, and strong sun the day after tomorrow. My heart is truly suffering, and I can only silently pray: you must stay strong, just get through these few days and it will be fine!

In the previous article I mentioned my Sister Ping (see "On the Road of Growing Succulents, I Will Search High and Low!"). Everyone responded enthusiastically, all wanting a Sister Ping of their own. It is not bragging when I say my Sister Ping is absolutely a master, an idol I worship. We grow succulents by the individual plant, but she grows them by the patch, patch after patch. Because of the huge quantity, they are all maintained in black square pots. Relying on heaven for their care, so they are treated quite harshly, with less refinement and more ruggedness, so beautiful beyond words. Let me share a few photos of her succulents for everyone to enjoy, just the tip of the iceberg.

The ones below are all mine. My growing skills are not up to par, and I still have a long way to go. The photos were all taken with a phone, without any beautification or editing, but the succulents after the rain seem to come with their own beauty filter.

The Echeveria 'Shuxian' after the rainstorm is so beautiful, just like a flower. No wonder people say succulents are flowers that never wither

Echeveria 'Qiluo', a few days ago it was still a bit wobbly, but after the rain it has become firm and rock-solid

Crayon, even the heavy rain these days has not made it lose color

Star Burst? Several varieties feel like they grow about the same

Onsnor, it has been busy growing taller and pupping, and has already turned vegetable-green

Bitao, the beauty of fresh and simple elegance

Guanghan Palace, it has grown a lot these days, and the powder on the outer leaves has been washed off by the rain, so it is not as ethereal as before

White Bear or Yellow Bear? I am silly and cannot tell them apart, but I figure the one with pink claws is White Bear, I wonder if my understanding is correct?

Green Bear also comes to join the fun!

This one is obviously White Bear at a glance, with more variegation, but it grows very slowly

Three-headed Chihuahua, one head has developed blood spots, and these past few days it has grown firm

Still Chihuahua, beautiful after the rain, as if wanting to speak yet shy, its little claws are very alluring

Little Ball Rose, it has grown the most noticeably, feeling like it suddenly filled the pot

What is this? One head is white, has it developed variegation?

Leaf-propagated Peach Egg, plump and chubby

Drunk Beauty cristata, does it look like a heart? I like it so much, I wonder what it will look like when it reaches full color

Another close-up

How it looked when it was first potted this spring

Millet Star, why does it feel even redder after the rain

Red Crane, very ethereal, but it has not reached full color, it must be because of the rain, thinking this way makes me feel much better

I do not know what it is called

Deer Antler Begonia and Crispy Duck, veteran-level succulents. At the time I had no pot left so I planted them together, and even stuffed in some Golden Grass. Deer Antler, when it came it was one head, now there are more and more, and they are very plump

Orca, it has only been settled in the pot for a few days. The succulent is small and the pot is large, precisely to let it grow freely, hoping it will grow into that dragon-coiled, tiger-wrapped shape like others have. I had one before too, and during the settling-in period I watered it to death. This time I dare not be careless, so I first water-propagated roots before potting it, so it must hold on and not let down my painstaking efforts!

String of Coins, seeing others grow them big and beautiful makes me very tempted. The previous one froze to death, so I got another one

Ping Pong Fu Niang

Still Ping Pong Fu Niang, this one lost all its leaves over the winter. Did you notice that one of the newly grown leaves is heart-shaped?

Ice Jade, this one is in especially good condition, truly warm and smooth as jade

Leaf-propagated Ice Jade

Fifty Bells Jade, the previous small pot could no longer hold it, so I changed it to a larger pot

Bi Yu Lian, grow up quickly. I was enchanted by a buyer's photo from a pot seller, so I specially bought an identical flower pot, and when it grows up I will switch it over

The buyer's photo of the flower pot

Orange Snowball, I have no resistance to round, chubby succulents

Black Sandalwood Juice, drink your fill of water all at once

Lipstick, it has grown a lot. The smaller the succulent, the faster it grows

Perhaps because thunderstorm rain contains more nutrients, plus the moisture, the air humidity is high, and there is wind, so air circulation is good. Therefore, although the temperature is high, the succulents are growing desperately. But I cannot guarantee such good luck next time, so the work of shading and rain protection must be put on the schedule immediately. I do not want to experience this heart-in-throat feeling again!
