Gardeners often complain that whatever they grow dies, and they are always left with a pile of empty flower pots at home. Today, Bai Xiaomeir has put together some care tips for the most common household flowers to share with you for reference.

1. Money tree

Personally, I think it is one of the easiest foliage plants to grow, perfect for lazy people. Overly diligent gardeners must restrain themselves and water it less, otherwise it will immediately show you yellow leaves and root rot.

Money tree care tips: protect it from freezing in winter and be sure to keep it indoors; it cannot take harsh sun, so it is best placed in a spot with bright, indirect light and good airflow; water only after the potting soil dries out; in summer, you can often mist the leaves to increase air humidity.

2. Pothos

One of the varieties kept in almost every household, it grows well with almost no care and can also absorb indoor formaldehyde.

Pothos care tips: like the money tree, pothos fears the cold and likes a slightly moist environment. In summer it needs watering once every 2-3 days. Watering it once every half month with fermented rice water can make it fill its pot quickly and keep its leaves from turning yellow.

3. Ivy

If you are worried that your pothos will freeze to death in winter, then choose ivy. Compared with pothos, it is more drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant, and it also does an excellent job of purifying the air.

Ivy care tips: it tolerates shade and should not be exposed to harsh sun; just keep the potting soil slightly moist.

4. Asparagus fern

Asparagus fern is a favorite of many gardeners, but its most common problem is yellow leaves. How should this be solved?

Asparagus fern care tips: it must be placed in a ventilated environment, mist the leaves often, and keep the potting soil slightly dry. When yellow leaves appear, prune them off immediately and place the plant outdoors in a spot with bright, indirect light and good airflow for a period of time.

5. Mint

Mint is quite useful in summer. Many gardeners buy it when it is lush, but after a few days at home it starts turning yellow and growing leggy. How can you grow it into a full pot?

Mint care tips: mint likes light, so it must be kept in a sunny, well-ventilated spot, keep the potting soil moist, prune frequently, and fertilize once every half month to get it to fill its pot.

6. Geranium

Many gardeners find it difficult to get geraniums through the summer, but in southern regions, at least in the Chengdu area where Bai Xiaomei is, geraniums still bloom beautifully in summer.

Geranium care tips: it tolerates drought, so keep it in a spot with plenty of light; provide appropriate shade in summer; it can also withstand cold in winter; fertilize once every half month to make the flowers bloom even more beautifully.

7. Kalanchoe

It can be said to be one of the must-grow flowers for lazy people. It tolerates drought, has a long flowering period, and will bloom with just a bit of light.

Kalanchoe care tips: kalanchoe likes light but also tolerates shade, though it is best kept in a bright spot. It prefers potting soil on the dry side; when the soil is too wet, it most easily leads to root rot and leaf rot. After it enters dormancy, kalanchoe must have its water controlled.

8. Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a potted plant that grows very well without much care. It has strong vitality and is suitable for growing on balconies or walls.

Bougainvillea care tips: it likes light, and insufficient light easily leads to fewer flowers or no flowers. It has a long flowering period, likes fertilizer, and prefers a warm, humid environment. When grown in the north, it needs to be brought indoors in winter to prevent frost damage.

9. Clivia

Care tips: summer is here, so clivia must not be exposed to harsh sun. Place it in a ventilated spot with bright, indirect light, keep the potting soil slightly moist, and keep it indoors in winter.

10. Petunia

This is the variety especially recommended for summer. Give it a little sunlight and it will fill its pot with blooms.

Petunia care tips: as long as you have a balcony with good light, I really recommend growing a pot of petunias. They have a long flowering period, and as long as there is enough light and water, they will basically be in a state of bursting with blooms every day. Petunias do not tolerate shade, so gardeners with poor light should not consider them.

The 10 kinds above are all varieties that I have personally grown and found relatively easy to keep alive. Gardeners, what other easy-to-grow flowers have you grown? You are welcome to leave a message and share your care experience together.
