Introduction

Green plants and potted flowers are already essential decorative items for home life. Keeping some flowers and plants at home has many benefits: it beautifies the room and also lifts the mood and cultivates the character. "Flower Sound Potted Plant Diary · Issue 1069" introduces you to a plant that very easily blooms and bursts into a full pot.

Today's star

When it comes to plants that easily bloom and burst into a full pot, you may first think of lobelia, baby's breath, pansy, and so on. These are all common potted flowers, and their blooming ability is also very good. But in fact, the easiest one to bloom and burst into a full pot is this one - calibrachoa. Summer is hot and not suitable for growing other plants. Today we introduce this plant that is not afraid of high temperatures and scorching heat, and is both beautiful and easy to grow.

Calibrachoa

Calibrachoa is a perennial herbaceous plant produced by crossing plants of the genus Calibrachoa with plants of the genus Petunia. It is also called little trumpet flower, small-flowered petunia, and so on. Many flower lovers also call it "million bells"; in fact, million bells is only one variety of calibrachoa. Its characteristics are similar to those of petunia, and both its flowers and leaves are relatively small, but it blooms more readily and produces more flowers.

Extremely long flowering period

Calibrachoa blooms very readily, generally starting from late spring and continuing all the way to late autumn, with a flowering period as long as half a year. During this time it will bloom repeatedly many times, one wave after another without stopping. After the first wave of flowers ends, remove them promptly and supplement with fertilizer and water nutrients. After about a week, the second wave of flower buds will immediately rise again, with an extremely high frequency of blooming.

Simple care

Calibrachoa has strong vitality and is said to be impossible to kill, comparable to roadside weeds; any flower lover who has grown it knows this. It likes sunlight and is not afraid of scorching heat. The hotter the weather, the more beautiful its flowers, and summer and autumn are exactly its peak flowering season. It is generally propagated by sowing; drop the seeds into moist soil and they will take root and sprout. Daily care is also super simple: water it when you remember, and it is fine if you forget and leave it for a few days, making it even easier to grow than pothos and spider plant.

It can also be planted in summer

If you want calibrachoa to bloom and burst into a full pot, an important task needs to be done in the early stage: pinching and topping. When the seedlings grow to 5 cm tall, pinch off its "head" for the first time to inhibit its continued upward growth and encourage it to grow side branches; this is the so-called "pinching and topping." When the side buds grow long, pinch them again a second time. Do this many times so that its plant shape grows into a "ball" shape, and when the flowering period arrives, it will naturally bloom and burst into a full pot.
