I've always wanted to grow lots of beautiful plants and flowers, but you don't necessarily have many planters. Plenty of people enjoy drinking red wine and wine, so don't throw away the boxes the wine comes in. Using them to grow plants is truly rustic, has an artistic flair, and a particularly pastoral style too!

My friend Xiaozhu is a skilled plant grower, and she also knows how to be eco-friendly and thrifty, putting seemingly plain and useless things from daily life to good use. Take the many wine boxes at home - it's a shame to throw them out, but she didn't know what to use them for. Looking at the plants on the balcony, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration: wouldn't they be great for growing plants? So she got right to it:

1. Prepare a wooden wine box. If you don't have one, you can collect them from relatives and friends.

2. Because planters for growing flowers and vegetables need drainage and airflow, they must have drainage holes. Prepare a screwdriver, heat it on a gas stove, then punch seven or eight holes in the bottom.

3. Fill it with leaf mould, garden soil and river sand, and you can plant flowers. Soak the flower seeds for a few hours, then sow them in.

4. Cover with 3 cm of soil, water thoroughly, and wait for germination. You can also plant flower seedlings, succulents or flowering plants directly into it.

5. Place it in a ventilated spot on the balcony with indirect light. A wooden planter paired with red flowers and green leaves, or cute succulents, looks good no matter how you look at it.

6. If it's kept inside the balcony, you can use it directly. If it's kept on a terrace or outdoors, since it will sometimes get rained on, to prevent standing water from affecting the box planter, you can paint some waterproof varnish on the bottom. This makes it more durable, and it will easily last a year or two.
