As a houseplant, the peace lily, also called "smooth sailing," carries a lovely meaning when placed in the home. What's more, the peace lily's blooms are very beautiful, like little boats drifting among the green leaves. But no flower stays lovely for a hundred days, and every flower must wither.

Recently, a gardening friend asked again why their peace lily had turned green. In fact, the peace lily's flowers gradually turning green and withering is the normal show of flowers blooming and fading. The flowering period of a peace lily is generally one to two months, and then the flowers slowly begin to turn green and gradually wither.

When they turn green, you should promptly prune off the spent flowers. Flowers like this don't look good when they stay on the plant, so it's better to let it save some nutrients. Cut the spent flowers off from the base of the flower stalk, and then new leaves and new flowers will still emerge from the side. This is the replacement of the old by the new, the natural law of flowers blooming and fading.

The peace lily is a very easy-to-grow houseplant. Usually place it in a spot with bright, indirect light and good ventilation, and be sure to water it promptly. The soil must be loose and breathable, and keep the potting soil from drying out, but do not let it stay waterlogged for long periods. That way, the peace lily will grow well.

What the peace lily fears most is lack of water. Once it lacks water, it easily causes the stems and leaves to completely collapse. After watering, it will stand up again, but if it lacks water too many times, yellow leaves will appear at the bottom.

The peace lily grows relatively fast. Usually, apply a multi-element organic fertilizer or compound fertilizer once or twice a month to ensure it blooms and grows leaves, and it will bloom continuously.

Actually, the peace lily is very easy to grow. Beginners who don't really know how to grow flowers can grow this one. It easily becomes lush with branches and leaves, and it's not easy to kill.
