This flower grows on a wooden board without soil, and it blooms with just a little water
Dendrobium
Dendrobium is also called "returning-soul grass." In The Legend of the White Snake, the immortal herb that Lady White stole for Xu Xian may or may not have been this one, but it really is a medicinal herb. Not only that, its stems and flowers are also a specialty dish in many regions. The stems can be stewed in soup, promoting fluid production, soothing the stomach, and clearing internal heat. Dendrobium flowers can be stir-fried with eggs, offering color, aroma, and taste, and most importantly, they're healthy~
This highly useful dendrobium also has another name: "can't die." It can be grown on just a few pieces of bark or wood. If you don't believe it, Huahua will teach you step by step!
1. Prepare materials
Just find some larger pieces of bark or wood; leftover scraps of wooden board from home renovations work too. First, sun the wood for a few days or soak it in a carbendazim solution for 20 minutes to sterilize it
2. Tie on the dendrobium
Let the sterilized wood dry, then soak it wet again. Tie dendrobium branches onto the wood with cotton thread, plastic string, or wire
3. Make a lazy-person watering bottle
Dendrobium likes moisture, so it's best to make a lazy-person watering bottle beside it. You only need a plastic bottle filled with water and a long shoelace, with the lace end placed on the wooden board. Remember that the plastic bottle should be above the wooden board so the water can be guided down
4. Daily care for dendrobium
Dendrobium can now be grown in both the north and south, but in the north it's best to keep it indoors with heating in winter. Usually avoid direct sunlight and spray water often to keep it moist
Besides growing it on bark or a wooden board as above, a tree stump also works. No digging is needed; just tie the dendrobium onto it with the roots close to the wood. The stump can be placed directly in a water basin, which saves even watering
If the temperature and humidity are good, dendrobium can bloom from May to September. The flowering period is super long, and the flowers are edible too. With so many flowers, one plant is enough for a plate of food
Air plants
Air plants can survive with just air. Many flower lovers look down on them, but they're actually very beautiful. Just place one on a piece of wood and its elegance instantly rises!
1. Tie onto branches
You can pick up some sturdy branches, wipe them clean, and secure the air plant with wire. Doesn't it look much better than a flower pot or something? Plus, it's ventilated and breathable. If you can still kill it, I really have to hand it to you
It can also be placed at home as a decorative piece, more artistic than art itself
2. Wire stand
If you have quite a few air plants and they look a bit messy, twist wire into a spiral funnel shape, and you can grow them together in one place
3. Daily care for air plants
Generally spray water once every 5-7 days. It's best to make it a habit. Don't spray water on cloudy and rainy days. It's best to spray in the evening; since temperatures are high now, do it around 7 to 9 pm
