White orchids bloom every day, and you can never pick them all - neighbors are eager to come buy them
White orchid
Fewer people grow white orchids now. Huahua remembers that when she was little, every household had one in the yard. Once the flowers bloomed, the whole house was filled with fragrance. I wonder if any flower lovers still grow them at home now?
During the white orchid blooming season, there are still elderly people who come out to sell the flowers, strung together with thread or wire, and you can hang them on yourself~

Maybe trends also go in cycles. When we have seen all the flourishing flowers, we return again to the old aesthetic - plant a white orchid!
1. White orchid propagation methods
White orchids cannot be propagated by cuttings. Grafting and layering are generally used. The operation is relatively complicated, so flower lovers with the right conditions can give it a try.
Grafting method: The rootstock is generally 2-3 year old magnolia, Michelia figo, or magnolia tree. In May-June, graft white orchid branches onto the rootstock, tie them well with plastic film, and care for them normally.
Layering method: It is best to use a white orchid over 3 years old. Choose a thick, strong branch from the upper part that is 1-2 years old. The branch should be longer than 15 cm. At 5 cm from the end of the branch, ring-bark 3/4 of the bark. After peeling, spray with carbendazim solution to disinfect, then wrap the peeled area with slightly moist soil and fix it in place.
Spray water to keep the soil moist. After about 10 days, you can cut into the branch position under the soil, nicking it a little each week. After 2 months, cut the branch off. By then it has basically rooted in the soil, and you can plant it directly.
For flower lovers who find the two propagation methods above too troublesome, it is better to just buy seedlings. White orchid seedlings are not expensive now, but you must distinguish them clearly.
White orchid care
White orchids grow slowly. Many flower lovers directly buy seedlings over 1 year old to grow. Everyone says white orchids are delicate, but once you figure out the care routine, there is no problem growing them for decades!
1. What soil to use for white orchids
For a flower like the white orchid that grows like a tree, it is best to use relatively firm garden soil mixed with leaf mold. Use a clay pot or porcelain pot for good breathability.
2. How to water white orchids
White orchids are relatively sensitive to water quality. It is best to use clean tap water after it has settled. They like water but fear waterlogging, so do not water too much each time. Spray-style watering is recommended. It can not only clean the leaves, but also let the leaves and branches "drink" water.
3. Can white orchids be exposed to the sun?
White orchids like light but fear sun exposure. It is best to place them in a bright spot at home. In summer, pay attention to shading. They can get light before 10 a.m., and after 10 a.m. they should still be shaded or moved indoors to a cool place.
4. Yellow leaves and bud drop in white orchids
White orchids sold in flower markets generally use southern sticky clay soil. This kind of soil is very sticky. When flower lovers first buy them home, they usually put them indoors with insufficient ventilation. Add to that the fact that the potting soil is not breathable and watering causes waterlogging, and over time the leaves turn yellow and the roots rot, so the white orchid does not live long.
Once you buy a white orchid planted in sticky clay soil, wash the roots first when you get home. Be careful not to damage the roots. After drying, replant it in breathable garden soil mixed with leaf mold, and then you can keep it at home.
If you do not want to wash the roots and change the soil, it is best to keep the newly bought white orchid in a ventilated yard or terrace. Control water appropriately, and once you master the routine, you can grow it well.
5. How long do white orchids bloom?
White orchids mainly bloom in summer and autumn. They are not cold-tolerant in winter and need to be kept warm. With proper care, they can also bloom in a heated room. Grafted white orchids may need to grow to more than 50 cm before blooming, while layered ones bloom a little earlier.
The flowering period of white orchids is long-lasting. The buds can be picked and strung together with needle and thread, hung by the bedside to help calm the mind and aid sleep, and can also be carried with you. No one does not love the fragrance of white orchids~
