What causes root rot in plum blossoms? Analysis of common causes

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many causes of root rot in plum blossoms: if it is caused by heavy, clayey soil, then promptly replace it with loose soil that drains well. If it is caused by waterlogging, then take proper drainage measures. If it is caused by improper fertilizing, then fertilize reasonably and do not apply highly concentrated fertilizer. Take it out of the pot, cut off the rotted roots and disinfect them, then replant.

1. Heavy, clayey soil

Cause: Plum blossoms like loose soil with good aeration. If the soil is too heavy and clayey, its poor drainage and aeration will cause the roots to rot.

Solution: Promptly replace it with loose soil that drains well, and loosen the soil appropriately to help the roots breathe more freely.

2. Waterlogging

Cause: Overwatering and the rainy season both easily lead to waterlogging. If the water cannot drain away in time, the potting soil stays too wet for a long time and causes root rot.

Solution: When there is waterlogging in the potting soil, take drainage measures in time; especially during the rainy season, promptly pour out the excess water in the potting soil.

3. Improper fertilizing

Cause: Applying a large amount of fertilizer or fertilizer that is too concentrated will harm the roots of plum blossoms, leading to root rot or death.

Solution: Do not apply highly concentrated fertilizer, and do not apply large amounts of fertilizer; applying fully decomposed fertilizer is best.

4. Rescue measures

Take the plum blossom out of the pot, clean the soil off the roots, and rinse them clean with water. Use disinfected scissors to cut off the rotted root system. After disinfecting, place it in a ventilated spot to dry, then change to a clean flower pot and suitable soil and replant it.
