Osmanthus, also known as rock osmanthus, has many varieties such as golden osmanthus, silver osmanthus, red osmanthus, and sweet osmanthus. Osmanthus is suitable for growing in warm, humid places with plenty of light. In summer, with the high heat, watering becomes especially important. So how should you water it?

For newly planted osmanthus seedlings, you must water them thoroughly. Usually you can spray water on the plant's canopy to increase air humidity and also reduce water evaporation. It is best to choose morning or evening for watering, and as for the water quality, ordinary tap water should be left to stand for two or three hours before use.

After watering, promptly loosen the soil, which helps the roots absorb water and promotes healthy plant growth. After entering June to July, osmanthus enters the flower bud differentiation stage, and at this time you should water less.

Osmanthus is not tolerant of waterlogging; too much watering or compacted potting soil can very easily cause leaf drop and yellowing leaves, and in severe cases the plant may even die. You can regularly apply decomposed poultry manure to improve the soil. Or add a certain amount of sand before potting, which can promote new root growth.
