Pine Bonsai Appreciation: Its Unique Character Has Long Been Praised by Scholars and Writers

Because of its distinctive character, the pine has long been celebrated and praised by scholars and writers, and in the eyes of Chinese people, the pine has become a symbol of the Chinese nation's uprightness, dedication, and broad-mindedness.

A pine tree, throughout its life, endures rain, snow, and scorching sun. In summer, it stands like a giant umbrella, proudly bearing the heat of the sun; in winter, covered with thick snow, it does not yield to the oppression of harsh weather, but boldly lifts its branches and grows vigorously against the cold wind.

The branches and trunk of the pine may look somewhat rough and worn, yet they are so solemn, weighty, and solid, commanding more lasting attention than ornate exterior adornment, because new attire is only a surface impression, while what one feels for these "old clothes" is admiration from deep within the soul.

Its elegant and simple form deeply attracts me.
