Pothos symbolizes happiness and is an excellent houseplant. It not only decorates your home but is also a natural air purifier that can absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, and can even regulate indoor temperature and humidity. What's more, pothos can be called the pig of the houseplant world - it is especially easy to grow, and a single broken-off stem tossed into a pot can grow into a big clump. But because of the high summer temperatures, pothos starts to throw a little tantrum and is fairly prone to yellowing leaves. What should you do about it?

Many flower lovers bring pothos home and neither fertilize it nor repot it, just watering it occasionally. Over time, it is only normal for pothos to develop yellow leaves from a lack of fertilizer. Some flower lovers say fertilizing is too much trouble, so today I will teach you a little fertilizing trick - the method is dead simple!

The water you normally use to rinse tofu at home can be kept and used directly to water pothos. It does not need to be fermented, and unlike rice-washing water used on pothos, it has no bad smell. Growing pothos with this kind of water is super convenient - no need to dilute it, just water directly, and no worry about the fertilizer being too strong and burning the roots. Generally, using it twice a month keeps pothos glossy green all year round, and it grows especially fast, with new shoots coming up one after another.

Pothos likes loose, airy, acidic soil, so it is recommended to repot it once a year. Do not use garden soil directly; you can use a mix of coal ash, turf ash and leaf mold to grow it. Pothos belongs to the shady soil type, so it does not need particularly good light in normal times. In summer, be sure to remember to shade it, otherwise the leaves of pothos are easily scorched and turn yellow.

The growing environment for pothos must be well ventilated and airy; generally, keeping it on a windowsill or a balcony is a good choice. Compared with other potted plants, pothos needs a relatively large amount of water, especially during its growth period, so you must give it plenty of water. After the growth period, it is recommended to prune pothos once; this not only improves its ornamental value but also concentrates the nutrients so it grows better.

Flower lovers who like pothos can give this little trick a try. If you have any other flower-growing experience, you can also share it with everyone in the comment box below!
