Okra is called the king of vegetables, with a very high nutritional content, and has become a fairly popular health vegetable in recent years. With such a great vegetable, how could you not grow one at home? Today, Huahua will teach everyone how to grow okra and how to eat it.

How do you grow okra?

1. Soak to speed up sprouting

The seed coat of okra is fairly thick, so it is best to use the soaking method to speed up sprouting. Soak the okra seeds directly in clean water, change the water once a day, and they will sprout in about 7 days.

Okra seeds sprouting after 7 days.

2. Sow and let seedlings emerge

Water the prepared potting soil thoroughly, place the sprouted seeds evenly in the flower pot, and cover with a thin layer of soil, just enough soil to cover the seeds.

3. Move to a pot and plant in place

When the okra seedlings have grown about four true leaves, they can be moved to a pot and planted in place.

4. Prepare the soil for growing okra

So that the okra can produce large, good fruit later, before planting in place you can crush cooked soybeans and mix them with garden soil to use as nutrient soil.

5. Care

Okra likes light, so after planting in place it can be kept on a balcony with plenty of light, watered once a day. After okra grows tall it tends to fall over, so it can be supported with wooden sticks.

6. Flowering

After about 1 month, the okra will enter its flowering period. The okra flower is a tender yellow, and Huahua thinks it looks a little like a tender yellow hibiscus~

6. Picking okra

After the flowers fade, the okra begins to mature. The okra harvest period is very long, about three months.

How do you eat okra?
