Many people who love taking cuttings aren't necessarily trying to save a little money on buying flowers; what they're after is the fun of it. Just think about that sense of satisfaction from successfully propagating your own plants - it's absolutely something money can't buy. But in practice, failures during the cutting process are actually quite common. Today I'll share some key points for taking cuttings of flowering plants for your reference.

Leaf cutting propagation tips:

Suitable for all kinds of plants that can be propagated from leaves, such as kalanchoe, gloxinia, Peperomia obtusifolia, Christmas cactus, snake plant, geranium and other plants.

1. Be sure to choose healthy, undamaged leaves. Cut them off together with the petiole, then let the wounds dry for 1 day in a cool, ventilated place.

2. Cutting medium: loose and breathable, such as leaf mold + river sand

3. Before planting, apply a little rooting powder to the wound on the leaf, then insert it into the soil. This can speed up rooting.

4. After planting, water thoroughly and place in a ventilated spot with diffused light to wait for rooting. Keep the medium moist during this time.

Stem cutting propagation tips:

Most woody plants can be successfully propagated from stem cuttings, such as Chinese rose, gardenia, jasmine, azalea, hydrangea, bougainvillea and others.

1. Choose sturdy stems after flowering, trim them to a length of 8-10 cm, and the stem must keep 2 leaves to help with photosynthesis.

2. For the cutting medium, likewise prepare a loose and breathable mix, such as vermiculite + perlite

3. You can first soak the stems in rooting solution for 2 hours before planting. After planting, water thoroughly, place in a ventilated spot with diffused light, keep the medium moist, and mist the leaves every day to increase air humidity

4. Insert the prepared stems into the prepared sandy soil, water thoroughly, and place in a spot at home with diffused light.

Under current temperature conditions, flower cuttings generally root in about half a month. During the rooting period, please don't casually pull the stems out to check - just wait patiently. Finally, choose a transparent container for the cuttings so you can observe them at any time. No matter which cutting method you use, it must be placed in a ventilated spot to prevent bacterial growth that causes black stems.
