The Unique Planting Technique for Bare-Root Roses to Achieve 100% Survival

Recently, a gardening friend asked: what should be done when a rootless rose seedling neither sprouts nor grows leaves? Today let's explore the cause of the problem!
How should bare-root rose seedlings be planted for the best results? It seems gardening friends are unsure of the key points, so let me talk about the planting techniques for bare-root seedlings. Bare-root seedlings have no leaves and exposed roots (some are wrapped in a bit of mud, which is just bare roots dipped in some mud). The roots of such seedlings need a fairly long recovery period. With no leaves, transpiration is very low, so they have quite high requirements for both the soil environment and the air environment.
For bare-root plants to recover quickly, a loose and breathable medium is needed, because rapid root growth requires massive aerobic respiration. Therefore, a loose, breathable, and moisture-retaining environment is good for root recovery. Personally, I suggest a medium ratio of coarse and fine coconut coir at 1:1 (the pauper's formula). If you want to go big, then add plenty of akadama, peat moss, and so on. Then, because the seedling's transpiration is low, it does not need complete shade; as long as it is not in blazing sun, that is enough. In fact, in a completely shaded environment without sunlight stimulation, it will grow poorly instead. So such seedlings are generally placed in a spot with bright, indirect light. Morning and evening sunlight reaching them is fine; just avoid blazing sun at noon.
There is also an extremely effective planting technique for bare-root seedlings, and it is my own secret trick! Even rose trunks 20 cm in diameter can be planted outdoors and survive with it. That is, first plant the seedling in a loose, breathable medium, then spray the trunk exposed to the air with liquid wax diluted 400 times. This way, the liquid wax prevents the trunk from drying out too much and locks in moisture. Everyone can give it a try. You can even plant the seedling and not deliberately avoid light at all, and it will still be fine. Otherwise, how could it be my unique skill!
