Summer has arrived. As soon as the plants at home go a day without water, all their leaves wilt, and they all need people to water them every day so they can make it through this hot summer. But succulents are a special kind of plant. Many people, seeing that the soil of a succulent is dry, worry that it will also die in summer, and automatically give the succulent some water. But that is wrong! Let me teach you one trick for telling how to water a succulent based on its condition.

The way to water succulents in summer is to feel the leaves. There are generally three situations:

1. The bottom ring of leaves is soft and shriveled (not the kind of leaf that turns yellow and is about to drop), while the upper rings of leaves are firm. This means it is slightly short of water, and you can generally water it now. If 12 hours after watering the bottom leaves are still not firm, it means the root system is not very good, and you should extend the watering interval in the next round to push the roots a bit.

2. The bottom ring of leaves is soft and shriveled, and the upper rings of leaves are also soft. This means it is already very short of water. If 12 hours after watering the leaves still have not perked up, at this point you need to put the plant in a ventilated place and make the soil dry as quickly as possible. Second, if your plant has been grown for a long time and you find this situation, it means there is a 90 percent chance your plant has root rot, and it is fairly serious. It is recommended that you pull it out directly, trim the roots, and re-root it.

3. The plant is in a wrapped state, with the outer ring withered, withering ring by ring inward, while the leaves inside the plant are firm and very spirited. This means the plant is in a dormant state. Please do not water it.
