Well, here I am again, only this time it is not the wooden planter-making process, because I still have not found any wooden stumps, so there is no way to photograph the process, and I did not save photos of the ones I made before either. That process article just cannot be finished, it will have to wait a while longer.
By the way, where have all these wooden stumps gone? Why does everyone suddenly love collecting stumps? Last time I only showed the dead wood series (see "When Succulents Meet Dead Wood, Awakening a Long-Sealed Love!"), but I have so many beautiful succulents, how could I show them all in one go? I will have to come back often from now on.
This time let me show off those succulents that are left to grow wild!
First, an Echeveria 'Afterglow' to hold down the post
Only after seeing a cactus bloom will you truly understand what a cactus is. You are only responsible for planting me, and I will amaze everyone on my own. And the other succulents of the same kind as the cactus tell me what it means to be: I am full of charm in my own way, at peace with the world.
Echeveria 'Red Crane', also called Silk Veil
That is right, the title is my attitude toward succulents: mix the right soil, choose the right pot, plant them, toss them in the yard to take sun and rain, barely even water them, then sit back and wait to be amazed. I am only responsible for enjoying them, and my succulents have never let me down.
Actually, succulents are really easy to grow, as long as you are not too eager and do not water them every day. Growing them outdoors can cure most problems, and then if there are pests, just spray some insecticide, and if you like big succulents, you can apply some fertilizer. Of course, once in a while a few will pass on, but for nearly a thousand succulents, losing one or two is negligible.
Right, other people's succulents have never let you down
Epiphyllum
As for the soil mix, I use humus soil with a bit of perlite and coal cinders, roughly 8:1:1. I like the way succulents look when they grow healthily, no controlling, no stressing. Humus soil can provide enough nutrition, and once in a while when I remember, I toss in some slow-release fertilizer and water the small pots by the way.
Let me clarify, what I use are basically large pots, over 20 cm, and they are fine without water for two months, not to mention the wooden stumps, which are around 80 cm. Only the dozen or so small pots around 10 cm that I bought before get watered about once a week, the rest basically need no watering, just wait for the rain.
Of course, every place has a different climate, this is for reference only (here the highest summer temperature basically does not exceed 30)
Although Echeveria 'Winter Beauty' is ordinary in looks, she is a girl with tenacious vitality. I once threw away leaves that were almost dried out, and when I watered them some time later, I found they had all sprouted. She tells me that opportunities are something you fight for yourself
Whether you pay attention to me or not, whether you like me or not, I will live as myself, love myself, cherish life, and amaze you, whether you look or not, I will amaze.
Echeveria 'Afterglow' looked like this at first, and at the time I was sighing that such beauty could exist in the world!
I just did not expect she could be even more beautiful. A month later she blinded my eyes
Even in summer, she became more and more intoxicating, I have run out of words to describe her beauty
Then my Afterglow team began to grow large, only this could show my love for her
More than three years ago I bought online a 3 cm Echeveria 'White Peony' seedling, left it on the windowsill with little care, it grew a lot after the rain, so I changed it to a bigger pot, completely relying on heaven for food. One day while tidying the windowsill, I found she had grown like this, and then I fell in love with White Peony. A perfect interpretation of: I am full of charm in my own way, at peace with the world
Unfortunately this year she turned to mush and passed on, and I beheaded her to save two babies
An Echeveria 'First Love' grown in the ground outdoors at the base, it had just gone through two snows, with the corpse of a companion lying beside it, so I decisively bought it. She will be a girl who is no longer afraid of winter
It took a month after planting to establish
After another month, a perfect comeback
Another pot of First Love, oh my, how can it be this beautiful, my girly heart...
This is the magic of succulents, rich and ever-changing!
An enormous Aeonium, together with the pot it is over one meter tall, with astonishing growth speed, starting to look beautiful
A comparison photo from three months ago
I can never tell the Aeonium varieties apart, I only know he keeps getting more beautiful. When I learned these two Aeoniums were the same variety, I absolutely refused to believe it
How it looked when bought
The Aeonium just planted, the First Love behind is truly too eye-catchingly beautiful
The Echeveria 'Snow Lotus' hybrid just planted, I had no pot left, so I planted it simply for now. Holding the succulent up, I finally got the blue sky as a background. I have always loved the pure blue sky of the plateau, and succulents under the blue sky are the most perfect. There is blue sky, there are succulents, but they cannot be in the same frame, the yard is surrounded by buildings. Buying a house with a yard up in the mountains, where a casual shot would be succulents under the blue sky, has become my next goal
Echeveria 'Guanghan Gong' is truly stunningly ethereal
This Guanghan Gong is getting more and more colorful, maybe he has fallen in love with the Afterglow upstairs
More and more outstanding, what about the promised aloof style? What about the promised chilling aura?
I am a wild child (photo taken in Lijiang), no matter where I am, as long as there is sunlight and water, I can grow
Beautiful Echeveria 'Debbie', a succulent that can be purple all year round
Echeveria 'White Phoenix' getting more and more ethereal. When I bought it, it was quite small, so I just planted it in a mixed pot. After two rains, she began to protest and grew quite a bit, standing out from the mixed pot. Of course this is just the beginning, she is still far from her peak beauty
The Graptopetalum paraguayense I once asked for
It always grew very slowly on the windowsill
After being tossed outdoors for a year, he grew like this, also without watering, relying on rain
Growing outdoors is the only way
Beauty soaring
The Sedum rubrotinctum that was almost dying on the windowsill before, after being tossed into a friend's yard for two years, not only survived but also amazed, fully bringing out the wild-child nature of succulents
From buying it all green to this, it only went through three days of sun, amazingly fast color change
This is also the summer state, I feel like my succulents are a bit confused about the seasons, in the middle of summer, some are even more beautiful
For example Echeveria 'Purple Delight', which started her peak beauty
If it were not for this saved comparison photo, I would not know he had grown this much, beautiful from winter all the way to summer
For example Echeveria 'Allen', moving closer to a peach egg, even sunning out blood spots, but then two stretches of continuous rain beat it back to its original form
Have you ever seen a White Peony with red spots sunned out
Quick, look at my red makeup, just asking you, am I beautiful or not, do you love it or not
The look in spring, I never knew what that fully red one was called
Summer, that is right, that one that for some unknown reason was fully red, an Echeveria 'Purple Pearl', died, and only when another one of the same variety bought together grew back to the original color of Purple Pearl did I know she was originally a Purple Pearl
Just asking you, am I beautiful, beautiful, beautiful? So what if I am a common variety
From colorful to cabbage green, it only takes two rains! Well, but I am still beautiful, so what if I am cabbage green, so what? Convinced or not?
Without warning, a whole ring of little pups popped out
Echeveria 'Blue Stone Lotus' always blooms in pairs
Echeveria 'Jade Disc' blooming, amazed me again. Before, I had put her on the windowsill and she got sooty mold, and she is still sick, yet she did not forget to bloom amazingly
After half a month outdoors, I only sprayed carbendazim once, and she kept getting rained on, and she healed herself. Jade Disc must be grown outdoors, left to grow wild, and it grows well even in yellow mud soil
Echeveria 'Xuehe' with a head so thick it is bigger than the pot, bought as a 3 cm seedling, now in its fourth year, still a single solitary plant, refusing to produce offsets no matter what
I still love my dead wood series the most. Many succulent friends said after seeing them that they have gained a new hobby of picking up trash (oh no, I mean old wood). It is them. I need to hurry and pick up wood, or it will all be picked up
I saw many comments asking whether it attracts pests. Do not worry, rotten wood itself is very good fertilizer. If you are really worried, you can spray some insecticide, and also carbendazim, then leave it in blazing sun for a few days and it will be fine. Anyway, I leave mine outside in blazing sun every day and have never sprayed any medicine.
The Jade Disc planted in the ground behind grew like crazy. My cousin gave it to me, directly giving me half. Three months after planting, its size doubled, and the ones she kept for herself are no longer as large a group as the ones I planted
If you ask me what the best and most expensive succulent I grow is
Well...
This one...
Of course it is me, hahaha
The photos are the proof
Look at my abs. There is never enough time, fitness and growing succulents are always competing! In the end, succulents won. Growing and admiring succulents takes up most of my time, but fortunately my abs have always stayed
Finally, let me say again, I do not sell succulents, I paint, paint, paint! Important things said three times! It is just that succulents have taken up a lot of my painting time. Here is a work everyone can understand (because most are abstract)
Colored pencil portrait
Pencil sketch portrait, laugh your teeth off
