Mygdal Plantlamp plant and lighting combination, illuminating your plants

Designers Emilia Lucht and Arne Sebrantke are members of the German design studio We Love Eames. Together they designed a special set of lighting called Mygdal Plantlamp, combining potted plants and lamps. The key point is that it needs no sunlight and no watering, making it both beautiful and easy to care for.

The finished Mygdal Plantlamp comes in two styles, a pendant lamp and a table lamp. It uses LED light sources instead of daylight, allowing the plants to grow inside the lamp. The table lamp model even has a patented conductive glass coating that lets electric current flow across its surface, which also means that without being plugged in, the table lamp can still be powered. Inside this glass lamp is a completely self-sustaining ecosystem. We Love Eames further states that under the illumination of the LED light, the plants can survive self-sufficiently for many years.
