As long as you have the heart, even a 3 sq m balcony can be arranged beautifully, and fussing over succulents is never too tiring~
First step for a 3 sq m balcony: think about whether it can be remodeled to be even more perfect? No garden, only a balcony.
Drying clothes, washing machine, sink, succulents, all have to squeeze into these 3 sq m. This sink was added separately; the space is too small and a sink is really needed for watering the succulents and washing rags
The table I made myself, using a rack picked up from the roadside
Below is what it looked like when picked up
Take a look before the rack was made
Originally it was going to be as tall as the railing, but then the sun could not shine in, so I sawed it down. See the cloth strips and wooden sticks on the railing? I was afraid the succulents would fall off, so I wrapped a ring around it. I am considering making a flower rack, then more succulents can be placed, and the table below can retire with honor
Below go the succulents that have not yet settled into their pots, on the railing go the ones that need lots of sun, and on the rack behind the glass go the succulents that need a little sun
This stool is the one I sit on the longest at home every day. Sometimes I even eat breakfast here, play on my phone, and look at apps
Made a ring of wooden racks, side view
Surrounded like this, even the wind cannot blow them down, packed tightly along the 8 cm railing
The balcony faces southwest. This side is south, and it gets sun from sunrise in the morning until sunset
This side is west. The black rack only gets sun in the afternoon, which is quite satisfying too. The succulents on the west-facing side are also very lucky
Only these 3 are expensive ones: Luoqi, Taodan, and Purple Velvet. The rest were all raised from small seedlings. Many of the expensive ones were grown from leaves
Purple Velvet, currently the largest pot.
Another round of tinkering began, September 20, 2016.
My husband said what I made before was too ugly, so he went to buy wood and made it himself. He wanted to eat hot pot on the balcony, put a lounge chair there, and play on his phone at night and so on.
Made a swing. There are too few succulents, hope to fill it up later.
Here comes the panorama. At this time the succulents were still too ugly.
April 12, 2017. The succulents look a bit better than before.
I wanted to install a multi-layer rack on the right. I tried the effect with picked-up wood first, but in the end it got no sun, so I threw it away.
In winter, bask in the sun on the balcony; in summer, eat hot pot and cool off on the balcony
Finally achieved eating hot pot on the balcony. He said that before, when going to the balcony, there was no place to set foot. May 9, 2017
Now the balcony has fish, succulents, and a turtle. Only after keeping fish did I find that once the oxygen pump starts, the whole balcony smells fishy, and there is noise too, so later I released the fish.
There is a river at the back gate of the neighborhood. On weekends I dig up rain worms to feed his little turtle. Since it started eating fish, it has gotten much fatter. The little turtles are called Baicai and Jidan. July 5, 2017, new members
After being kept for a while and often eating fish, the color of its shell changed
Keeping turtles, I found they are the cleanest animals, with no smell. Usually they crawl around the balcony playing, and at night each finds a corner to sleep. Soaking in water for a while every day keeps their bodies very clean
