Plant art appreciation: the beauty of dancing leaves

This series of works is by three Copenhagen design companies, Moebe, Paper Collective, and Norm Architects, using a unique printing technique to imprint vividplant leavesonto transparent photographic paper.

Designers from Norm Architects convey the plain and quiet feeling described by Wabi Sabi in art, design, poetry and philosophy through this staticplantimagery.

The inspiration for designing these static plant images comes from plant specimens and someplantillustrations. These static leaves seem to declare the stillness of time. Leaves are sensitive plant individuals; they are affected by the environment and climate, and express this influence outwardly through fading, shrinking, curling, shriveling, cracking and so on.

All the cracks, scars, depressions, peeling and so on around them are a testament to their own experiences and history. This time, through a brand-new printing technique, these leaves will be fixed on transparent photographic paper in one unique moment.
