In middle age, with elders above and children below, the pace of life is too intense, and every day work and life press down so hard it is hard to breathe. If life kept going on this dully, I would truly fear that my soul would lose its fragrance. Fortunately, fortunately I met succulents. It was love at first sight with them, and that first dazzling glance sealed an indescribable fate. They are my stress-relieving treasure, my soul's confidant, quietly, peacefully, and calmly accompanying me. They let me forget all worries and stress and make me passionate every day.

From two small single heads to a family of five

Every morning when I get up and open the window, I am dazzled by the cute succulents all over the windowsill: fresh, adorably chubby, charming, elegant, tall or short, plump or thin, white or pink, in countless poses, enchanting. Facing the first ray of morning sunlight, I stare at them for a while, and inside I feel quiet, simple, and joyful. The goodness of the mortal world flows between each pot of cute succulents and my heart... until the roaring sound of the soy milk maker in the kitchen and the sweet aroma of bread from the oven come rushing over, and a vivid and joyful day begins!

At night when I get home from work and finish the housework, it is time for my succulent world again. I water them, pull off leaves, spray medicine, kill insects, move pots, take photos, busying myself happily, and busy away the fatigue of a day's work and the trivialities of family life.

On vacation, it is finally truly my time. A cup of clear tea, a rush cushion, sitting down in the most peaceful and elegant posture, quietly facing each cute succulent just like this. They envelop me with the aura and temperament of plants, and I gaze at them with infinite love and tenderness, speechless yet understanding each other.

Sika deer are so cheap now, buy more of them

Compared with the gorgeous and bewitching expensive succulents, I prefer the leaf propagations I raised myself, the small stems that became clusters after beheading, and the ones grown from seeds from the tiniest millimeter size, slowly watching them grow, pruning and trimming leaves for them, catching bugs and repotting them, until they become thick and sturdy and turn into old stems.

Most of the succulents in these two assorted trays are leaf propagations I raised myself, grown from seeds

I am a gem succulent addict

Sometimes I invite a few close friends to sip tea, drink wine, and talk about life. When I look up, the cute succulents are quietly charming there, obediently and silently keeping me company. With the life of qin, qi, shu, hua, shi, jiu, hua and chai, mi, you, yan, jiang, cu, cha, only because of the cute succulents is there poetry! They are the confidants who understand me best. No words are needed and there will be no awkward silence; just being quietly there is the most compassionate understanding.

Sometimes I hold a book I like and curl up on the sofa, letting time pass, listening to the flower language of succulents. How wonderful, these succulents, this book, this beauty of life...

The reason I like succulents is that their beauty is not gaudy or showy. People who understand them will cherish them, and in an instant there is awakening. I have always tried hard to be such a woman: lovers, friends, people who understand me need no explanation at all. Only after being used to the reds and greens of roses, Chinese roses, and peonies can one appreciate this low-key, subdued beauty.

Peach Green

As I write the end of this article, I sit down in front of the windowsill again, pin my favorite plain-colored hairpin on my short hair, brew old tea, watch the sunset fall, listen to the breeze blow, and look at the smiling faces of the succulents, just like a girl in first love, my heart full of sweetness and full of joy. Let me fall in love with succulents forever and ever, fall in love with myself, and fall in love with life!
