With soil culture, careless watering or poorly aerated soil can easily lead to root rot and yellow leaves. Water culture is not only simple, but some flowers are super easy to grow in water. Add a little fertilizer and they grow much more vigorously than in soil, quickly turning into a large pot. Let's take a look!

“

Grown in water"

- Chinese money plant (Hydrocotyle vulgaris) -

The Chinese money plant has cute round leaves and is very easy to grow. Whether in soil or water, it has tenacious vitality like a weed. In fact, the Chinese money plant grows faster and better when grown in water. As long as there is plenty of water and sufficient light, it will quickly fill the pot.

For soil, just use ordinary garden soil. Do not use peat, as it will float up and look very dirty. Flower lovers who like things clean can also sprinkle a little sand or small pebbles, and the water will quickly become very clear. Occasionally add a little nutrient solution, and the leaves will become big and round. Some impatient flower lovers drop in 2-3 granules of urea, and it also fills the pot very quickly (at the beginning, be sure to use only a little; too much will cause fertilizer burn).

Some flower lovers even plant it directly on the aquarium filter, where plenty of water and nutrients make it grow fast!

- Mint -

Mint can be used to make tea and cook dishes, and is a very good traditional Chinese medicine. Most flower lovers grow mint in soil, but in fact mint grows extremely fast in water. As long as there is sufficient light, mint is not prone to becoming leggy, and there is no fear of root rot. It is much easier to grow than in soil.

Some flower lovers want to convert soil-grown mint to water culture. It is best not to wash the roots; just cut a handful of mint stems and insert them into a container, and they will root very quickly, much more convenient than washing the roots. Some flower lovers even keep mint directly in an aquarium. As long as there is enough light, no fertilizer is needed at all, and it grows frighteningly fast.

- Lucky bamboo -

Once lucky bamboo has grown roots, as long as the water quality is not too poor, there is no need to change the water often; basically, you just keep adding water. Lucky bamboo can also be grown in soil, basically made into bamboo cages, and most are soil-grown. Improper watering in soil culture often leads to root rot. Most are grown in water as fortune bamboo, or just insert a few bamboo stalks into a bottle, and after rooting they become glossy and green and very beautiful.

Water culture of lucky bamboo is simpler. Flower lovers who are not good at growing plants are advised to grow it directly in water, as the survival rate is higher. When adding water normally, drip in a few drops of nutrient solution, and lucky bamboo will become lush and spirited. Besides nutrient solution, you can also add a little ferrous sulfate aqueous solution or a rusty iron nail, and lucky bamboo will grow very beautifully! Note that lucky bamboo that has not yet grown roots should not be given anything; adding it is useless. Wait until it has rooted, then add it so it can be absorbed and used.

- Spider plant -

Spider plants are very good for the air. Placed at home, they can purify the air and absorb harmful gases, bringing health to the family. Many flower lovers grow spider plants in water. Both water culture and soil culture are very simple, but water culture requires much less care and does not need frequent management, which is very good for busier flower lovers.

Water culture of spider plants is very simple. After the spider plant grows runners, cut off the small plantlets and place them in a water-culture vase. It is even better if the vase has a planting basket; put in some expanded clay pebbles, then place the small plantlet on top. With good aeration, you can grow it for as long as you like. Water-cultured spider plants generally need the water changed once every 1-2 weeks. You can add a little nutrient solution when changing the water, and keep it in a place with scattered light. The spider plant will grow quickly and well!

- Pothos -

Pothos is easy to grow, and the difficulty of soil culture is low, but water culture is even less difficult; basically, just add a little water every week. When pothos has sufficient nutrients in water culture, it grows much faster than in soil, and can climb all over the wall in just a few months.

If you have aquarium water, you can directly use it to grow pothos, or even place the pothos directly in the filter tank or even in the aquarium. Not only does it grow fast, but the leaves are also very large. In the aquarium environment, not only is there plenty of water, but the humidity is also high, which is very suitable for pothos growth.

Pothos that a flower lover planted directly in the filter tank has gone wild with growth

A flower lover built a fish pond and planted a few pothos in the filter tank. In half a year, it filled the pond, and the leaves were also much larger than ordinary pothos leaves.

- Umbrella papyrus -

Umbrella papyrus is also called water bamboo and looks a bit like bamboo. Its leaves are emerald green all year round, elegant and upright, just like umbrellas, giving a refreshing feeling in summer. It is generally grown with rocks as a water-culture bonsai, full of southern charm.

Umbrella papyrus likes warm and humid environments and has a relatively high water requirement. Many flower lovers directly fill the flowerpot with water and use a half-soil, half-water method of care, with the water about 5 cm high. Umbrella papyrus can stay vigorous all year round, and this also saves the trouble of watering every day.

It turns out that some flowers not only grow fast in water culture

but also reduce a lot of the trouble of watering!

If you also like water culture, give it a try

Show it to flower lovers who need it!
