Hello everyone, today let's talk about desert rose care. Desert rose, also called Adenium obesum, is a succulent plant and is known as the one that blooms on an elephant's leg. This desert rose of mine was bought in winter, and I already recorded a video for you back then, teaching you how to mix the soil.

Desert rose needs loose, breathable soil. Back then I taught you to mix it with perlite, vermiculite, coal cinders and peat soil. This desert rose needs good water drainage, so we should use gritty soil for more than half the mix, that is, half coal cinders and half other nutrient soil.

Of course, we can also use leaf mold and coal cinders at a 1:1 ratio ourselves, as long as the soil stays loose and breathable. Especially for the bare-root desert roses we just bought, after receiving them you must let them dry for a few days, because the roots are damaged and the wounds need to dry before potting. When potting, use moist soil and don't rush to water.

After a few days, just water with half the usual amount, because its roots are not growing yet, and the loose, breathable soil will let the water seep through without waterlogging and root rot.

When do we usually water? We'd best wait until the stem gets a bit soft, then just water thoroughly. Whenever it gets soft, water it.

Desert rose is fairly easy to grow. This one of mine has been blooming for over two months, from the start of spring until now it has kept blooming. As long as it is old enough, desert rose will bloom a lot. These few small ones are one-year seedlings grown from seed, and they will bloom next year. Later I will teach you how to graft and how to take cuttings. As long as you keep following, there will be new videos coming to you.

As for fertilizing, when it is blooming and forming buds you can use phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and after flowering use a multi-element fertilizer. Be sure to use light fertilizer frequently, fertilizing once a month.

Desert rose is very easy to grow. As long as you keep plenty of light, loose breathable soil, and water when the tuber gets soft, you will definitely grow it very well.
