Schefflera (umbrella tree) has deep green leaves and an attractive plant shape. If not cared for properly, it easily develops yellowing and falling leaves. Let's take a look at how to care for it to avoid yellowing leaves on your schefflera!

(1). Reasonable fertilizing

Improper fertilizing can cause leaves to turn yellow; too much or too little will both affect growth.

During the growing period of the schefflera, make sure the potting soil has sufficient nutrients and increase fertilizing appropriately. In summer, apply granular nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizer once a week, combined with loosening the soil, so the plant can absorb the fertilizer better. From April to September, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once a month, with balanced nutrients.

(2). Moderate light

Schefflera cannot go without light for a long time, as this easily causes the leaves to become dull and thin, or even drop off. The schefflera is a shade-loving plant, so place it in a bright spot for care, avoid direct strong light, and make sure it gets enough scattered light.

(3). Correct watering

If the schefflera is watered too much, the roots easily rot and yellow leaves appear. If watered too little, the leaves will turn yellow and dry up.

Just keep the potting soil moist when watering. In spring, summer and autumn, water once every 3 to 4 days; in winter, reduce watering and frequently spray the leaves to add a certain amount of air humidity.

(4). Prevent pests and diseases

The schefflera should be kept in a well-ventilated place, otherwise it easily develops diseased and yellow leaves. Spraying a diluted fungicide once a month can prevent the occurrence of pests and diseases.
