For many people growing money trees, watering is something many of them just cannot get right, which makes money trees prone to root rot, and the early symptoms are not very obvious, so by the time you notice it, the plant may already be seriously affected and very hard to bring back. How do you treat money tree root rot, and what should you do if it has rotted from the middle? Here are some specific methods for everyone, in the hope that they help.

The first thing to do is to confirm how far the money tree's root rot has progressed. Generally speaking, when a money tree gets root rot, the leaves start to lose their luster, turning from emerald green to pale yellow, and then the leaves gradually drop off in large numbers; next, the bark on the money tree also shows some abnormal signs. If you look carefully, the closer the bark is to the base of the stem, the more some strange secretions appear, and the bark starts to soften and fall off. If the above situations occur, then the money tree's root rot is not something that happened just a day or two ago, and the next step is to take the relevant measures to rescue it.

The specific rescue method is to first promptly cut away all the leaves that have already turned yellow, take the money tree out of its pot, clear away the soil around the roots, and then prune the plant's root system. If the rotting of the root system is not especially severe, use the appropriate tools to cut away the rotted parts; if the rotting is more severe, then the entire root system needs to be cut off.

After dealing with the roots, check whether the stem base is intact. If the stem base is also rotting, first cut the stem into chunks, wash them clean, and then soak them in a thiophanate-methyl aqueous solution of a certain concentration for about a day. At the same time, care for the wounds where the stem was cut, and you can choose to spray them with carbendazim. Finally, place it in a cool, well-ventilated environment to dry. When replanting, change to good soil, and when watering you can mix some rooting powder into the water before pouring it into the soil.

In addition, money tree root rot is often caused by overwatering. You should not water a money tree too frequently; generally, watering about once a week is enough. When watering, try not to water at the base of the stem; you can choose to water from the soil beside it instead, which also reduces the possibility of water accumulating in the pot. Also, when you are not sure whether it is short of water, it is better to let it be a bit dry than to water it. Then, when cultivating a money tree, the soil you choose must be good, especially with good drainage and aeration, or go to a professional shop to buy it, so that you can avoid this happening again next time.
