Breeding arowanas in his own backyard pond, this veteran fishkeeper is truly a top-tier player

A veteran fishkeeper in Singapore bred arowanas in a pond he built at home, making him truly a top-tier player!
Arowanas are very difficult to breed, and few hobbyists succeed in breeding them on their own, precisely because of the high difficulty of breeding and the ornamental value of the arowana itself, which has made the arowana one of the most expensive ornamental fish.
So how do you breed arowanas? Here are two suggestions:
Natural pairing: Keep 5 to 6 arowanas together and let them develop a bond on their own; this is the most ideal form of natural pairing. If you raise them together from fry, the chances of success are relatively high.
Artificial pairing: In a large tank, place the male and female arowanas on opposite sides of the tank, with a divider set in the middle. The divider needs holes drilled in the center to ensure water circulation and to avoid changing the water's pH when the divider is removed, which could cause disease in the arowanas.
After the arowanas reach sexual maturity, removing the divider will reveal the arowanas' tail-chasing behavior, and biting each other may also occur during this period. The arowanas may jump or crash about out of fright, and this is all normal behavior. Keep observing over the next few days: if the two arowanas swim slowly and closely together, then the pairing has succeeded. If they are still fighting continuously, then the pairing has failed.
