The succulent creeping cucumber (Plectranthus amboinicus) has fuzzy leaves that give off a light apple scent, which is soothing. How do you grow creeping cucumber so it bursts with growth? Let's take a look!

(1). Soil

Creeping cucumber should use loose, well-draining sandy soil. Generally use river sand, and spread crushed stones at the bottom of the pot to prevent the drainage holes from getting clogged. You can also use peat moss plus perlite.

(2). Fertilizing

Creeping cucumber is not tolerant of heavy fertilizer and has low nutrient needs. During the growing season, apply a diluted fertilizer once a month that is mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer with little nitrogen fertilizer. When applying solid fertilizer, be careful to increase the frequency of watering.

(3). Light

Creeping cucumber is a light-loving plant. Only with sufficient light will the leaves be thick. With insufficient light, it will grow leggy, the nodes on the branches will lengthen, and the leaves will become thin. So it should be kept in a place with better light to grow lushly.

(4). Watering

Creeping cucumber is not tolerant of dampness, so watering should not make it too wet. Control the amount of water, and prefer dry over wet; it is better to let it be a bit dry than to water too much. If you notice the leaves wilting, that is a sign of water shortage, so water promptly. If the potting soil is obviously dry, it needs watering. After summer, reduce watering, and in winter watering needs to be controlled.

(5). Temperature

Creeping cucumber is not tolerant of cold. In winter, move it indoors promptly for care, and keep the temperature at 5~10°C so it can survive the winter safely. It is prone to root rot and death.

(6). Pruning

Creeping cucumber branches very easily. Properly cutting off old branches and overly dense branches can promote the sprouting of side branches and healthy growth, and can also avoid consuming nutrients.
