Clivia's leaves are naturally asymmetrical in number on each side, and on top of that the leaves lean, so how could this Beatles-style look possibly match its gentlemanly, upright and noble character and its reputation as the "gentleman among flowers"?

If you grow Clivia and cannot regularly turn the pot, and the light stays weak on one side and strong on the other for a long time, then because of the plant's phototropism it will grow toward the stronger light, so it easily ends up crooked without you noticing.

What should you do if it grows crooked? There is still hope. Straightening a Clivia is actually very simple, and you can DIY it yourself. Let's get started, right now.

1. Clip fixing method: Prepare some clips and cardboard; clips with a wider contact area are better. First, straighten the crooked leaves together with the other leaves, then wrap the folded cardboard (fairly light) around the leaf edges, clip the leaves and cardboard together with the clips, and adjust and secure them. If the clips are quite strong, you can also add an extra layer of paper towel to cushion the pressure and avoid injuring the leaves. The pot should also be turned regularly toward the sunny side, and after some time it can be corrected.

2. Aluminum foil correction method: Prepare an appropriate amount of aluminum foil and a few paper clips. Cut the aluminum foil to about the same length as the leaf, then fold it in half. After folding, the width should be close to half the width of the leaf. Use it to wrap the leaning side of the leaf, then secure it with paper clips. Within a few days, the leaf will return to normal; at that point, watch it often and remove the aluminum foil in time to avoid overcorrection.

3. Ladder leaf-insertion method: Heh, of course this does not mean a real ladder, but rather making a DIY cardboard row of holes like a row of Wahaha AD calcium milk bottles to insert the leaves into. It is very suitable for Clivia with many leaves crooked into strange shapes. Prepare lightweight hard cardboard and a utility knife. First, according to the number of leaves and the approximate spacing, cut a row of holes at suitable positions so all the leaves can be inserted, and note that it is one hole per leaf. Carefully insert the leaves while arranging them, and in one go insert an entire neat row; that row of Wahaha bottles is nothing compared to this.

Some Clivia varieties are simply going to grow crooked, so you just have to let them be.

Clivia is very long-lived and can live for several decades; it symbolizes good fortune and wealth. Our Clivia are all meant to be grown for many years, so they must be cared for carefully. In order to take beautiful photos of it, its elegant and dignified self must never be allowed to look disheveled. A clever person like you must already be looking for materials, right? If fellow flower growers have any other good beauty methods or correction tools, remember to leave a comment and share them.
