Sometimes when you grow plants, you can't even enjoy a trip away, because you keep thinking about the plants at home and what to do if no one waters them. But these kinds of green plants stay perfectly healthy even without water for ten days to half a month, and easily grow until they burst out of their pots:

Aloe

A pot for aloe with a diameter of about 15 cm is enough, and an ordinary flower pot will do. The best soil for aloe is leaf mold : garden soil : sand at 4:4:2, which is nutritious and not prone to compacting.

Aloe is extremely drought-tolerant. Watering it too much instead harms its root growth and easily causes rotten leaves and roots.

If you want aloe to grow until it bursts out of the pot, you only need to change the potting soil once a year. If there are too many small plantlets in one pot, you can divide them and grow many pots.

Aside from shading it in summer, give it plenty of sun in the other seasons, and occasionally give it some fermented soybean fertilizer water, cake fertilizer water and so on, and watch it fill the pot.

Cactus

A truly lazy-person plant, it can go a month without water in autumn and winter, because its round body can store abundant moisture.

It is not picky about soil at all; ordinary garden soil and sandy soil can both be used to grow cacti. But it is best to add some coarse sand, or large particles such as vermiculite and crushed coal cinders, to help with drainage and aeration.

Cacti can be grown indoors, but they need frequent light. Without light for a long time, the color will not be deep enough green, and they will grow thin and elongated rather than plump and round.

Most cacti have a very strong ability to produce small offsets. However you normally care for them, they grow lots of little pups.

Snake plant

It is also a very drought-tolerant plant. Grown in a room, it can also purify the indoor air and absorb formaldehyde. It can grow to more than one meter tall.

The soil for growing snake plants should also have some large particles added, as it fears damp, waterlogged environments the most.

Snake plants are very easy to propagate: break off a leaf, cut it into several sections, and insert them into the potting soil, and they will take root and send up small leaves, growing into a new snake plant.

Give the snake plant several applications of dilute fertilizer water each spring and autumn, and it grows especially fast.

Desert rose

Its root stem is very thick and fleshy, so it stores a lot of water and does not need much watering; going ten days to half a month without water is no problem. Its spring flowers are especially bright and beautiful. It fears waterlogging and dampness the most.

For the soil used to grow desert rose, it is suitable to use orchid stone or red brick granules, mountain soil plus ordinary soil. Add a small amount of chicken manure.

It likes a warm, well-ventilated environment. As long as the temperature does not exceed 25 degrees, placing it outdoors to grow in the open without shading will still let it grow very robustly.

A desert rose that has just been transplanted or planted should not be watered right away. Put it in a semi-shaded place to let it settle, and once the plant has recovered, water it thoroughly all at once. When it blooms in spring, it is nothing short of stunning.
