Almost every flower lover has a garden dream in their heart,

but for most flower lovers, this can only remain a garden dream.

However, without a garden, we can still have a balcony!

Today, Huahua will introduce a flower lover named "Baogai Mountain,"

who even bought a big house just to grow flowers!

Before growing flowers:

After growing flowers:

Preliminary Preparation for the Balcony Garden

Gardening Encyclopedia

The balcony of the new house is 3.4 m long and 1.6 m wide. Although it cannot compare with other people's large terraces, if the space is used reasonably, keeping it as uncluttered as possible and not affecting others as a prerequisite, it can still be made beautiful.

Window design:

Since the south balcony basically has 4 window panes, the 4 tracks allow all the windows to be pushed to one side. In this way, on sunny days, the flower pots hanging on the balcony railing can get sun in 3/4 of the area, while when the weather turns cold, simply pulling the windows closed turns it into an enclosed balcony.

Railing design:

With enough anti-corrosion wood ready, the work can begin!

1. First, have the carpenter make 3 vertical railings from anti-corrosion wood. The height of the railings only needs to match the height of the previous house's railing. Then draw lines and drill holes in the middle of the railings. The vertical spacing of the drilled holes should be about 20 cm.

Then prepare galvanized pipes and insert them 2 cm into the drilled railings to secure them. In this way, even large wall-mounted flower pots can rest between 2 galvanized pipes without tilting at all.

After that, anti-corrosion wood was used to make the balcony ceiling, the air conditioner outdoor unit fence, and the cover board.

After that, anti-corrosion wood was used to make a laundry sink. The water connected from the laundry sink pipe can be left to sit on the balcony for 1 day and then used directly to water the flowers!

My favorite things are the grid and the small cabinet made from anti-corrosion wood. With the help of the grid, I can grow some climbing flowers and let the vines climb up along the grid.

And the small cabinet under the grid can hold some small gardening tools, such as small shovels, iron rakes, and watering spray bottles. They fit perfectly inside!

The last step is to paint all the anti-corrosion wood, and then it is successfully completed!

The preliminary renovation of the balcony is complete, and next it is time to start preparing to grow flowers!

The Balcony Garden Takes Initial Shape

Gardening Encyclopedia

In order to avoid affecting neighbors and causing unnecessary trouble, I tried to choose hanging plastic flower pots for growing flowers, and for the growing medium I also tried to choose lighter peat soil. I tried to make sure all the flower pots were hung on the inner side of the balcony to avoid unsafe situations.

The first batch of guests to move into the balcony were some small seedlings such as petunias, geraniums, nasturtiums, and clematis. When the weather was good, opening the window to let in sun and wind made them grow very quickly!

For flower lovers whose homes are low in temperature, here is a suggestion: go to the supermarket and buy a few turnover boxes, put the seedlings inside, and the seedlings can be cultivated successfully as quickly as possible.

The clematis grown in the jar was moved to the grid area. Once the vines grow larger, they can climb upward along the grid. To prevent the clematis from climbing outside the window and making it impossible to close the window, I also installed a small bird stand outside the grid.

By the end of July, they had basically already bloomed.

I grew several pots of Angel's Eyes and hung them directly on the grid, and they soon produced small red flowers.

The Apple Blossom propagated from cuttings also bloomed. When winter turns cold, the flowers will turn white. Isn't that especially magical?

The nasturtiums sown from seed sprouted in 5 days, and after 2 months they could basically bloom!

Although the weather was relatively hot, the nasturtiums at home kept blooming continuously!

The UK TM was originally red flowers, and later gradually changed to a coral red tone, which made me like it even more.

The petunias sown in spring also kept blooming. Hung on the railing, they looked very beautiful in clusters!

In July, small bear sunflowers were sown on the balcony. After experiencing high temperatures and many days of rain, they finally bloomed!

Unfortunately, because water and fertilizer were not kept up, only the central flower disk produced plump seeds, while all the other parts were empty. Next time I must learn from this lesson and apply more fertilizer!

I went to the vegetable market and spent 3 yuan to buy a few bowls to give the succulents at home a new home!

And when the weather turns cold, all the succulents must be moved to the indoor balcony, letting the succulents stay cozy indoors for the winter!

The Balcony Garden in the Second Year

Gardening Encyclopedia

In the small balcony in the second year, the first to bloom was Angel's Eyes bicolor, quietly blooming shyly on the balcony.

Nasturtiums of various colors bloomed in a competition of beauty: bright red, rose red, pink, and yellow, all rushing to bloom on the balcony.

After the nasturtiums bloomed, they produced small seeds. Based on my experience, winter sowing is better than spring sowing, because if the weather is too hot, the nasturtiums may not set seeds!

This year, new guests came to the balcony: 4 black mages, 2 with round leaves and 2 with long leaves, and 2 of them had even developed variegation!

After about a few months, the black mages grew bigger and bigger. At this time, a friend gave me a pot of money tree, so I cut off the heads of the black mages and gave them to that person.

After cutting off the heads, I applied a little plant ash to the wounds, and after only half a month, new buds began to appear.

The string of pearls that I started growing last year has already developed variegation,

This year's petunias were the Pink Morning Light variety. They bloomed continuously from spring, and even in the hottest summer they never stopped.

The spaces between the railings were not idle either, all occupied by petunias poking their heads out!

This year's sunflowers, in addition to the same small bear sunflowers as last year, also included an extra choice, Red Mill sunflowers, and they were also super beautiful when blooming!

Although this balcony is not large in area, watching it go from nothing to something and slowly take on the look I like,

I naturally felt very happy in my heart.

So, I hope every person who loves growing flowers

can persist in their dream, and one day you will surely have a balcony of your own!
