Thailand's "husband and wife fruit": one is extremely heaty, the other extremely cooling, so eating them in summer nourishes the body without causing internal heat

As people's living standards improve, many tropical fruits that were rarely seen before, such as durian, wax apple, rambutan and mangosteen, have gradually become "regular guests" on the dining table. China's output of tropical fruits is relatively small, and many are imported from Southeast Asia. Among these, Thailand's fruits are of high quality, so a large share of the fruit on the Chinese market is imported from Thailand.
In Thailand, local people have grown up in a kingdom of tropical fruits, so they know these fruits' "personalities" inside out. Two kinds of fruit are known locally as the "husband and wife fruit" - do you know which two they are?
One of these two fruits is extremely heaty and the other extremely cooling. The two are completely different, yet they complement each other perfectly, so Thais call them the husband and wife fruit. Eating these two fruits together in summer both nourishes the body and spares you the trouble of internal heat.
Let's start with the extremely heaty fruit. This fruit is quite extreme: those who love it regard it as a supreme delicacy, while those who dislike it cover their noses and stay far away at the sight of it. This fruit is the durian. It has a rich aroma and an extremely high sweetness, with a sweet, fragrant taste, and it has the effects of nourishing yin and tonifying the kidneys, invigorating the blood and dispelling cold. It is popularly recognized as a fruit that nourishes the body.
Generally speaking, most foods with nourishing effects are warm and heaty in nature. Durian, however, belongs to the extremely heaty category. Eating too much of it can cause a red face and red eyes, phlegm in the throat, abdominal bloating and indigestion, and even shortness of breath. Because durian is overly nourishing, eating too much of it at one time leaves the stomach and intestines unable to absorb the excess nutrients, which causes physical discomfort. So most people do not dare to eat much durian. Thailand's Ministry of Public Health therefore also reminds the public not to eat more than 2 segments of durian per day.
So is there any fruit that can neutralize the extreme heatiness of durian?
Of course there is, and that fruit is the mangosteen. In China, mangosteen is also called "mang ji shi", a name transliterated from the original. It has a thick purple outer shell, and when the shell is peeled open, the flesh inside is pure white. Mangosteen has the greatest advantage of tropical fruits, namely that it tastes very sweet, and combined with its small, cute shape, it is very popular. Some people cannot stop eating mangosteens, one after another, not realizing that this really harms the stomach, because mangosteen is extremely cooling. It is best eaten together with durian, as it perfectly neutralizes the cooling and heaty qualities, so it is delicious without causing internal heat.
How many people know that eating durian and mangosteen together does not cause internal heat? In summer, when the weather is hot, appetite declines. Eating these two "husband and wife fruits" in moderation can stimulate the appetite and strengthen the spleen, nourish the body, and you need not worry about internal heat!
