Gardeners who have seen pomegranate flowers know that they are especially beautiful. So, if you want to see pomegranate flowers at home too, why not try propagating your own cuttings?

If you want to root pomegranate cuttings in the north, you can do it in both spring and autumn. When taking cuttings, if you choose young shoots from the current year, it will take a long time for fruit to form, but their growth vigor will be very strong.

However, for home growing, it is recommended to choose branches that are two to three years old. After these branches are rooted as cuttings, they flower and fruit relatively early, and most importantly, the plant will not grow too large.

Choose strong, healthy two- to three-year-old branches, about 0.5-1 cm in diameter, cut them off, with a length of about 15-30 cm.

After that, trim the cut surface of the branch into a horseshoe shape, and remove some of the leaves on the branch. This can avoid consuming too many nutrients and affecting the branch's survival rate.

Water the potting soil in the pot thoroughly, and insert the branch into the potting soil. Put a plastic bag over the pot and place it in a semi-shaded spot for care.

Usually, remember to mist it to keep it moist. After about a month, roots will grow on the branch. When its new leaves grow to five or six, you can transplant it.

Pomegranate is a sun-loving plant, so it really likes light and is not afraid even of strong light. But if there is not enough light, it will affect the plant's growth.

During its growth, if it flowers in the same year after rooting, you should pinch off the flower buds appropriately, because flowering too early is not good for the growth of the tree itself.

Usually, also pay attention to pruning it. In the first few years of growth, just prune it lightly; do not prune too heavily. When it fruits for the first time, also keep the number low; do not let it set too many, otherwise it will affect its growth the following year.

After pomegranate cuttings are rooted, care is actually very simple. If you have a yard at home, you can root a cutting in the yard, and it is also very beautiful after it blooms.
