The money tree (Pachira aquatica) is a typical foliage plant, with broad, emerald-green leaves and high ornamental value, and it is deeply loved by everyone. But recently many gardening friends have told me that their money trees' leaves have started to turn yellow and drop. In fact, money trees turning yellow and dropping leaves in summer is basically closely related to watering. As summer temperatures get hotter and hotter, if the watering method is wrong, the money tree will develop all kinds of problems.

Overwatering

Summer temperatures are relatively high, and the soil surface dries out faster than usual. Many gardening friends water the money tree as soon as they see the soil is dry, but in summer, although the surface soil is dry, the soil inside may not dry out that quickly. This keeps the money tree's root system in a moist state for a long time, causing the roots to slowly rot, so the tender leaves that grow out gradually turn yellow, and the old leaves also slowly drop off.

If the situation is not too serious, stop watering immediately, then loosen the soil, and just place it in a ventilated spot. If the situation is more serious, take it out of the pot, trim off the rotted roots, disinfect them, and then repot it.

Lack of water

Summer weather is relatively hot. If you forget to water the money tree for a long time, the money tree will turn yellow and drop its old leaves due to lack of water, and even the newly grown leaves will turn yellow and drop.

At this time, do not directly pour too much water on the money tree, because after being without water for a long time, the plant has already been damaged and cannot absorb water well. You can first give the plant a small amount of water, then spray the leaves with clean water, and after it recovers for a while, just return to normal care.
