The money tree symbolizes great wealth and prosperity, bringing in fortune and treasures. How do you care for a money tree grown in water? Below are the key points for water culture of the money tree!

(1). Water and nutrient management:

In the early stage of water culture of the money tree, change the water once every 2~3 days. After half a month, roots will grow. Once it has fully adapted to the water culture environment and is growing well, maintain it with nutrient solution, and replace the nutrient solution once every 2~3 weeks.

During the peak growing season, apply less nitrogen fertilizer while increasing phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. You can spray 0.1% potassium permanganate on the leaves. This can prevent leggy growth, help the stem base thicken, and keep the foliage vivid green.

(2). Sufficient light:

The money tree likes sufficient light but dislikes harsh sun exposure, which can scorch the leaves; if there is too little light, the internodes will become leggy, the leaves will shrink, and the color patterns will fade, affecting its ornamental value.

(3). Spray water frequently:

In seasons when the air is dry, frequently spray water on the leaves and surrounding area to maintain a certain level of air humidity. This also cleans the leaves and keeps the foliage green and glossy.

(4). Reasonable pruning:

The money tree has apical dominance and needs pinching to encourage lateral branches to sprout. Also promptly cut off all overly dense branches and old, weak, diseased, or dead branches, which helps with ventilation and light penetration. The money tree has strong branching ability, and stems of any thickness can be cut short; after cutting, new buds will grow below the cut. Proper pruning can create a beautiful tree shape, forming a tree with a thick trunk and abundant branches.
