Epiphyllum, also known as orchid cactus (Epiphyllum spp.), is an evergreen succulent plant with a great many varieties and very rich flower colors, including pure white, pale red, pale yellow, deep red and so on. Epiphyllum likes plenty of sunlight, but during its blooming period it must not be exposed to strong sunlight, otherwise the flowering time will be prolonged.

In autumn, increase the light exposure time; in winter, place it indoors in a spot with plenty of sunlight, and do not water too much, just keep the potting soil slightly moist; in summer, water appropriately more, as Epiphyllum likes a humid environment; in spring, apply a liquid fertilizer combining nitrogen and phosphorus once every two weeks, for two to three times in a row; in summer, apply a liquid fertilizer mainly of nitrogen once every half month; in winter, stop fertilizing.

Epiphyllum can be propagated by two methods, cuttings and grafting. Cuttings are usually taken in spring: take a healthy leaf-like stem 10 cm long, let it dry for one to two days, insert it into plain sand, spray with water, and place it in a semi-shaded spot, keeping the temperature at around 15 to 18 degrees, and it will take root in a month. Isn't it very simple? The flowers of Epiphyllum are also very large.
