Detailed Guide to Hydroponic Cultivation and Care of Mimosa pudica

How to grow and care for Mimosa pudica hydroponically?
Mimosa pudica is a perennial herbaceous plant. Mimosa pudica is very interesting: when touched by the outside world, its petioles droop and its leaflets fold closed, like a shy maiden hiding her face, which is why it is called "mimosa" (shy grass), as shown in the picture of Mimosa pudica leaves.
1. Hydroponic methods
(1) Method one: Sow Mimosa pudica seeds in a substrate of peat : soil : perlite = 2:1:1. After the seedlings reach 3-5 cm in height, transfer them to 10 cm X 10 cm pots with small holes at the bottom. When the plants grow to about 10 cm, select seedlings with a straight plant shape, brightly colored leaves, and no pests, diseases, or physical damage for hydroponic cultivation.
(2) Method two: Buy relatively young Mimosa pudica plants from a flower market, first rinse the roots with clean water, remove the slimy mucus, trim off aged and rotten roots, immerse the whole plant in a potassium permanganate solution at a concentration of 100 mg/L for 10--15 min, take it out and rinse off the potassium permanganate solution with water, and it is ready for hydroponic cultivation [Jishan Huayao].
2. Care guide
(1) Light and temperature: Mimosa pudica likes sunlight, so it is best to place it on a sunny balcony or beside a window. Full exposure to sunlight is good for the growth of Mimosa pudica; if there is too little sunlight, it may hinder its growth. Mimosa pudica is suitable for growing in a warm environment, with 20-28°C being appropriate; if the temperature is too low, growth stops.
(2) Pest and disease control: Mimosa pudica generally has few pests and diseases. If the plant is not growing well, check whether the light source is insufficient or the water is not enough.
