All kinds of roses are blooming in competition, and a small balcony also has a bright scenery! (A few personal tips on rose care) New flower enthusiasts always have a lot of confusion: potting, watering, fertilizing... I have not been growing roses for long, but I count as someone with a history of growing flowers, and my mom can vouch for that.

1. There are limitations to choosing roses for a balcony; it is best to use miniature roses, though shrub roses are also okay (after flowering, keep pruning and pruning so they do not grow tall)

2. The roses we buy back from Taobao are generally very small, and the root system is not very developed either. I generally use a 1-gallon pot, with peat plus perlite and a handful of plant ash (no matter what medium you use, adding a handful of plant ash will not go wrong), and an appropriate amount of slow-release fertilizer (special for roses). After watering thoroughly, place it outdoors in a ventilated spot to acclimate the seedlings (this is the most important point; without ventilation, the stems easily turn black.)

3. Wait until it starts sending out new shoots, then you can add some liquid fertilizer when watering (organic nutrient solution, the kind below); use whatever you have.

4. In order to grow it strong and sturdy, pinch off all the flowers and buds on young plants; if you want to see flowers, keep one bud just to enjoy it.

5. When growth starts to become vigorous, bury some organic fertilizer in a ring around the edge of the pot. Buy the fully compound-fermented kind; it saves effort and will not burn the roots.

6. After flowering, prune away weak branches, and pay special attention to keeping the pruning height of the branches consistent, so that flowering is concentrated and blind branches are avoided.

7. Also, there is pest and disease control for roses. After it rains, be sure to kill insects and sterilize! Preventive work must be done well!

The above are my personal little growing tips, for beginners to use as reference!

As long as there is ventilation, sunlight and rain, everything else is fleeting (≧?≦). Balcony growers, let's go!
